This movie did not do justice to the beautiful and thought-provoking story as told in the book. It just didn't have the same level of detail or narration to fully explore the concept of how Jesus would be received in modern society. In addition, the acting by much of the supporting cast was not very good and made it difficult to take the movie seriously and watch it until the end. I am glad I did watch it until the end, though. I found myself surprisingly moved by the last scene.I highly recommend the book!

I saw this movie some years and remember bawling - that's how wonderful it was. Then I saw it being shown on cable TV again so I wanted to see it again and said no way will I bawl again. Well I was wrong. Knowing what was coming I bawled more this time then last. This is how this movie affects you. Its such an uplifting movie with Tony Goldywn performing the best I've ever seen him. My wife and I so enjoyed it and will share it with our children and grandchildren. The music is also so beautiful. I recommend this to people of all ages. It will not disappoint you. after seeing this movie again last night, my wife and will surely watch it again and again. Its that good.

I watched this movie today just by chance. Loved it, what a great inspirational look at what people have become and what they can be with faith and love. I will be recommending this movie to everyone I know. If you ever need a boost in your life, this is a great movie to watch, it shoots right to the heart. To think and see what could be if God did appear among us, he would be no different than you or I, and he would give us the guidance to help one another, love, and have faith. I think the Head priest at the church forgot what love and faith was in Gods eyes, although he did see the light in the end. It would be nice if everyone took one step to help another person, and see where it leads us.

I managed to get hold of a copy of Joshua from a friend a few weeks back. I had watched this in a theology class when I was in college and I remembered enjoying it and decided to get hold of a copy. The movie gives its viewer a fresh look at religion.Joshua is childish, it's corny, it's lame, but it works. The story, follows the life of a mysterious man named Joshua and how he affects people of a small community. Joshua is portrayed exactly how he should be by the well talented Tony Goldwyn. Goldwyn makes Joshua to be easily likable, mysterious, and completely absent of corruption from the world. In supporting roles with all excellent performances are one of my favorite actors Kurt Fuller who plays the bumbling but good hearted Fr. Pat. Fuller was perfect for the role the way he is able to show fear towards Fr. Tardone yet compassion for Joshua. Also in support is the legendary F. Murray Abraham who comes closest to being a villain. There is no real bad guy in this film so sorry folks. The film has no flashy special effects, no big name actor taking up the screen, and no action filled sequences. There is no twist to the movie. It is straight forward with its message. The film shows people who have trouble understanding the concepts of Christianity what Jesus would be like today if He was here. The film is a tad corny but a person is easily able to ignore it with the magical acting of Tony Goldwyn and Kurt Fuller. Even if a person is a non-believer or a believer of another religion, a person can easily enjoy this film and learn a few things about life while doing so. My only complaint is that the last half hour is a little slow compared to the first hour.Joshua. 4 out of 5
