This film had all the preconditions to be a masterpiece of the genre: an excellent, fairly original idea, a big budget and an incredible cast. Unfortunately, the realization is just slightly above the average. The idea was developed in a decent story, but it could have been much better. The effects are good, but not breathtaking, and the acting team is literally wasted. Ben Stiller almost alone carries the entire film, while top actors who surround him are totally unused. Robin Williams, one of the greatest names of the comedy, who turns even a bad role into gold, has such a small and uninteresting role that he simply did not have the opportunity to shine, and even that little time he was given he did not use well. In my opinion, this was his worst role. Enchanting Carla Gugino has no purpose in this movie. She was thrown into the story for the element of romance with Ben Stiller, but neither romance was given the chance to happen, nor did her character have any other function in the film, so her role is completely redundant. The same goes for Jake Cherry, because the relationship between father and son, which should have been one of the backbones of the film, was so superficially shown that they could easily leave it out completely. Trio Bill Cobbs, Mickey Rooney and Dick Van Dyke was an unexpected but pleasant surprise in this film. These three veterans, with their appearance alone, raise the rating of the movie at least one star. Ricky Gervais seems to be improvising all the time and, although he plays a very small role, he greatly contributes to the entertainment of the film. There are many more interesting characters in the film, but I will mention only Patrick Gallagher, Steve Coogan and Owen Wilson, because they left the strongest impression on me.The disadvantages of this film are, in my opinion, quite big, but its qualities and the fantastic cast not only compensate for, but also overcome its flaws, so the film is very watchable, quite entertaining and at times hilarious.7/10

'Night at the Museum' is a creative and crowd-pleasing film with an imaginative storyline. In many ways, it's like a bigger and better version of Jumanji - a feast of special effects and an entertaining plot to go with it.This is a funny film that features some great comedic talents, including Robin Williams and Ricky Gervais. Ben Stiller is very good as lead character Larry and provides plenty of laughs. I've seen 'Night at the Museum' a few times and it's a film I'm always happy to watch.

A newly recruited night security guard at the Museum of Natural History discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come to life and wreak havoc. Night at the Museum is the first of the 3 films in the Museum Trilogy and stars Ben Stiller and Robin Williams and although the film received mostly mixed reviews i still found it to be very entertaining and relaxing and although the humor is for sure silly it's a film that was mostly made for kids and their parents and if you know what you're getting into you are going to enjoy this movie a lot plus all the actors did a great job with the material that was given to them and the special effects looked pretty believable and kids will definitely love this movie. (8/10)

I'm perplexed with this movie because the best goes along the worst. Thus, the idea of museum exhibits becoming alive is really original and as usual only Americans could guess it while my french fellows have a big hole for imagination! For sure, the magic explains all because it's really extraordinary that wax or toys people gain also character and attitude! However this brilliant idea is badly beaten by the result because those 3 nights of mayhem are too much repetitive! (for that, the sequel is more straightforward!). Next, the father character is interesting as for one time, we have at last a character doing a ordinary job! However he is also really bizarre: as other American movies, we can see that being jobless means also being a bit crazy! Next, his divorce is also the usual Cliché: the new father has as expected a true job (bond broker!) but the old father wins the heart of the kid as being fantastic! At least, the cast is so-so: Stiller is funny only half the time that means that the other half time he is really a dolt! Wilson does his usual irritating Wilson. If i give 7, it's only because of this original idea and the simple pleasure to meet again late Robin in a familial movie!
