When it comes to Hollywood movies about male sexual orientation and (cringe) cross-dressing - I'm sure glad to say that 1959's "Some Like It Hot" wasn't one where the men "crossing over" ever believed themselves to be really women trapped inside a man's body.(Phew! That was a close call!)And when it came to all of this deliberate gender deception with musicians, Joe and Jerry - I thought that Jack Lemmon (with hilarious confidence) clearly understood his "Daphne" character so much more completely than did Tony Curtis with his "Josephine".Of course - Having the voluptuous Marilyn Monroe (as Sugar Cane Kowalczyk) in this picture certainly did help to keep the charge of testosterone always crackling sharply just like a bolt of flash-lightning that never fails to strike in precisely the same place twice.Anyway - I'd say that this film's humorous ending between Daphne (Lemmon) and Osgood Fielding III (Brown) was a priceless touch of well-timed genius (thanks to director, Billy Wilder).

because it is enough to see it. and to discover the atmosphere , the humor, the love stories and the science of a great director to give a complete film, out of clichés, vulgar solutions. a film like an ice cream. flavors, nuances, music, performances, costumes and a form of romanticism so subtle, delicate and seductive than transforms this film in a great artistic experience. because each detail has its perfect place. because the meet of Marlyne Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon seems like a Rubick cube. so, a gem.

It is sad, that technology does limit what people can enjoy. I myself do not watch old movies either, like the majority, because they lack the tempo and visual enjoyment, that I am used to see. However I have seen some great pieces of art in my childhood, and this motion picture is definitely one of those pieces. It is hilarious, the acting is top notch, the whole story and screenplay is so absurd, it just brings the viewer with itself on a hilarious trip to places I can not describe with my poor English. There aren't many films, that I could summarize story-wise after not seeing it for like, 16 years, but I could even see the screenplay of this one, if I close my eyes. Just perfect.

Jack Lemmon has the most bewildered, frantic sensibility about him. And in this film he is able to use it to the Nth degree. Tony Curtis has always been a puzzle to me, but the chemistry that he exhibits with Lemmon makes this the biggest hoot of the fifties. Throw in Marilyn Monroe, with her dizzy blond routine, but with charm, and gentleness, and you have an unstoppable comedy. With the men in drag attempting to invade the place where the girls are and Joe E. Brown (a very strange man to say the least) and a great script and it really works. I will never forget the final line of the movie as Lemon sits next to Brown with the most incredulous look. See this if you haven't it will make you laugh from beginning to end.
