College student Beca knows she does not want to be part of a clique, but that's exactly where she finds herself after arriving at her new school. Thrust in among mean gals, nice gals and just plain weird gals, Beca finds that the only thing they have in common is how well they sing together. She takes the women of the group out of their comfort zone of traditional arrangements and into a world of amazing harmonic combinations in a fight to the top of college music competitions.

I was a prisoner of this plodding, unfunny, downmarket predictable anti-confection during a car ride. I was driving 14-year olds 500 miles and we needed movies for our onboard video system. I managed to get incensed. This PG-13 "tween" film was so outlandishly sexual that I saw fit to accompany the whole movie with my very own morals narrative. A very special type of dubbing. And because our onboard TV puts the sound controls in front of me (thank you Lord), I got to reduce the volume for my "Morality Dubs" every time the dialogue edged into the abyss. There were plenty of abysses. And I narrated all of them. With a sense of humor designed to illuminate young boys who we want to become gentlemen, not pigs (yes, I said that).A movie for piglets to wallow in.

This movie is listed as a "comedy" a "romance" and "music." Unfortunately, its barely one of the three. Comedy - There is maybe one joke that made me laugh (the bit where the guy pulls a rodent out of his pocket way at the beginning) but otherwise I was so bored watching this. Someone being fat is not funny. Someone being gay is not funny. Someone being quiet is not funny. Someone being slightly out of the social norms is not a joke. I would be offended, but they don't go anywhere near far enough with anything for it to even qualify as shock humor. They went pretty far with all the puke (yes there are multiple scenes of projectile vomiting in this movie) and its just really, really gross. Shock humor needs to be funny. There has to be a set up and pay off. There has to be A J O K E. (Also, with gross-out, the characters in the show or movie need to be more grossed out than the audience - That's just a basic writing tip for anyone interested in comedy.) Most of the characters who witness the vomit are pretty cool with it. This movie does not work as a comedy. Romance - This movie isn't a romance. I don't know why its listed as that. Its kind of confusing. Music - This music is basically a series of really short music videos strung together by overlong and boring skits full of bad acting and filler.I wouldn't recommend this movie unless you want to take a nap. Its really boring, painfully unfunny and uncreative. There is really no reason to watch this movie when there are so many better pieces of media you could be watching.

Pitch Perfect (2012) is an example of a movie that exists for the sole purpose of entertaining an audience in a really fun way. Almost all movies are meant to entertain in some way, but they differ in how they go about it. Some try to teach lessons and send important messages, where as others are there to make you laugh and feel good, Pitch Perfect is one of the latter. It's not limited to a teenage/young adult audience, but that is the main target audience, and I believe that it's one of the best young adult movies we've seen in a while. It's not just thrown together like a sloppy mess, it's actually very well done. The casting is near perfection, especially Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Skylar Astin who are the spirit of the movie in my opinion. The other actors do a great job too, but I thought those three just really shined the brightest. Elizabeth Banks and is hilarious too. The writing is smart, entertaining, and has a funny-sweet tone that really works. I highly suggest this movie for everyone!

I watched Red Sparrow in theaters earlier in the same day and when it was a disappointment, I had to watch another movie, when I was back home. Pitch Perfect was on TV and I have thought about watching this.I think the movie was okay. It's not a Chicago, but it was sort of entertaining as long as it lasted. Of course in these kind of movies you always know, how the plot goes, but this time it didn't bother me that much. Maybe after Red Sparrow I was up for anything else. I just wanted something entertaining and light. The acting was pretty bad at some points, but I wonder, if they wanted it to be that corny on purpose. I do like musicals and I thought the music was well done, and the harmonies were on point. And when they were on stage, I really enjoyed those parts. The throwing up -joke was stupid and they should've not put that kind of joke here. It was joke that you see on those stupid parody movies like Scary movie and American Pies, but not in a musical. It was like a six-year-old had said what would be a funny joke.I actually really wanted this to be a good musical, but it wasn't original enough. Why do the high school and college movies always have so stereotypical characters? Always the bitches, nerds, etc... Maybe someday someone will actually come up with something original.Summary: it was okay and entertaining, but very predictable and lacked in originality what comes to teen movies and teen musicals.
