Though no one can see him, Hollow Face lurks in the corners, desperately desiring love but only knowing how to spread fear and hate. He creeps into the life of John Farrow after Farrow’s beloved 13-year-old daughter Mia is assaulted in their home. The line between the real and the imaginary blurs as fissures start to open within the family unit. It seems that no security measure can keep Hollow Face out.

This movie was sorta dry for me. Likes I felt drawn into the movie from the start. I love Clive Owen playing the part of concerned father. I think he really gets into the role. The time spent trying to show his bond with his child adds depth to his character. This is a bit confusing and that is great for setting up a reveal and I look for that to help me sustain my interest. The acting from the rest of the cast was okay. Dislikes The girl in this is supposed to be 12 but she looks like she's 16 or so. It could've moved along much faster. The reveal was a bit of a let down and I didn't really understand what Hollowface was supposed to be. Was he a ghost? A demon? A manifestation derived from thoughts and fears? I wanted to understand his character a little bit better.Overall This was a decent film. It has a few issues and I wouldn't call this a horror film. I never felt scared. Maybe a bit of suspense but never fear. Clive Owen's acting carried this for the most part.

Generally it is hard to make a movie with fresh enough twists nowadays but there are a certain group of movies which are able to achieve just that. Clive owen is not an actor who particularly excites me. But in this movie he has done his job pretty well. But I was most impressed by Ella Purnell's performance as the daughter Mia. I guess she is not as young as the character but her performance is still impressive. I loved the constant switching from one story to the other and the final realization about what it was all about. The plot is a little complicated. Well the premise isn't but the details quite honestly are. I didn't get the ending at first and I had to read through the boards to find out what all of this meant. It isn't memorable enough to warrant a 2nd viewing but it is definitely complicated enough. One thing I do have a problem with is the obvious CGI look of the monster and that is something I really have a problem with often.I liked the way the stories connected to each other and how it all came together in the end. The twists are at the appropriate time and the story moves quickly each time revealing something more about the situation. The details are important as well. There are some atmospheric scenes like the scene in the church ("exorcism") and the scenes in the bedroom of Mia. But still I feel it could be longer with more time for build up and less CGI. Oh by the way Carice van houten has a great body!Overall I liked the movie. 7/10

I usually love this type of movie: not being full of effects, full of violence and/or gore. But having a story to tell in some "spooky", or more like mysterious kind of way. With brilliant actors and a good twist at the end. In case of "Intruders" though, I was disappointed right from the beginning, as, for an, let's call it "advanced viewer", parts of the conclusion got presented right at the beginning of the movie. From that minute it's just speculating if you are right or wrong. When reaching the end you have to admit you weren't all right, but yeah, you knew it would end like this. This wouldn't be something new or would make a movie really bad, but Intruders got nothing else to shine with. The Plot isn't told in a good way. It's more like waiting for something to happen finally. And when you come to that point, there is no big surprise and not THAT BIG of a story-twist if you ask me. The more than average attempt to build up suspension with a rather "everyday plot" is what's left. It's too bad the movie's ending can't live up to that bit of given suspension. The good actors finally can't rescue this movie after all this. You will reach the point where you just want it to end.I recommend this movie to people who were really surprised at the end of "the sixth sense", which did present the "surprise" right at the beginning too (even if people still say they didn't knew what would happen, I personally can't believe it). For the story, it's more like "the machinist"...maybe. It's a rather calm movie with some "thrilling" effects. But nothing that prevents you from sleeping after seeing it. Also you won't think about it for the next few days, so it's really a gentle experience you want to have sitting at home, not really concentrating, since there's just not much to follow at the screen.Soooo, that's 4 Stars from me for pretty good acting, some thrills, average story, and a well-known but not convincing construction of the movie.

A child is being visited by a boogeyman. But is it real or is it imaginary? Who knows? Who cares! Whilst there are some good scenes and decent acting especially from the child stars, the movie is ruined by a ludicrously convoluted story line and plot.Even after watching the film and doing some research I am at a loss to understand what was going on and I believe many others are likewise scratching their heads too.At the end of a film when all the strands of the story should fall into place and make sense, the opposite happens and many viewers will be left confused and let down.4/10.
