this movie deals with a very sensitive subject to me,, illegal aliens and border crossings,, I will try and leave personal feelings out of it long enough to give a review.. Harisson ford plays a Border Patrol agent, his job is to stop the flow of illegal aliens crossing the border every single day.. also in the picture we have Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, both who were very good, as our story progresses we see many different characters throughout the movie,, some get caught trying to cross over the border, and some make it,, Ray Liotta's character a bit shady he makes a deal with one of the pretty girls he busted, in order for her to get a green card,, she has to keep having sex with him. Harisson Ford meanwhile does something i'm sure a real life border patrol offieer wouldn't do,, he hides a family a starts try ing to help them stay in the country till they can get approved for a visa,, there are many pros and cons to this movie,, I liked the movie because it did present how things are dealth with at the Border Crossing,, and all of the bureaucracy that happens,,

A motley group of immigrants tries to get green cards in Los Angeles. This variation on "Crash" is letdown by a melodramatic and contrived script, courtesy of director Kramer. It's meant to be poignant and dramatic in conveying the plight of the immigrant, but it amounts to little more than clichés. The characters are one-dimensional stereotypes: the defiant Muslim, the babe willing to sleep her way to a green card, the Korean kid tempted by gangs, the sleazy immigration official. None of the characters seeking legal status is portrayed as likable or sympathetic. Ford and Judd are unbelievably saintly as bleeding heart liberals. Despite all its shortcomings, however, the film does manage to be entertaining.

An OK movie that holds sentimental elements that would appeal to the average American. Full of unrealistic/unusual situations that do not represent the average experience of immigrants. Movie is just a movie and not a depiction of the average experience of people, thus following mainstream Hollywood focus, alas drama, exaggeration, and stereotypes. While it conveys the patriotic feeling of most Americans, it totally lacks a fair representation of the feelings of people towards their homeland. It makes, however, a good point on issues of family separation that might appeal to the average Americans. The same issues and situations could easily be applied to other first world nations around the world that also struggle with immigration issues.

The director and makers of this movie just had one goal, and that is to kiss their own asses for being American, and looking down upon people from other countries. It is quite obvious from the dialogues, and adjectives used for the immigrants and their home nations. They make it sound like all immigrants have AIDS, and come from 'third-world' countries. The reality is a lot deeper than the shallow outlook that arises from the minds of these filmmakers. People get drawn into the illusion of richness, and then they begin a spiritual learning process, and realize that America is actually the 'third-world' country in terms of spiritual and cultural depth.
