One word to describe this: forgettable.I would've been disappointed had I paid to watch this, but since I didn't - there isn't much to complain about. Waste of time? Yeah, a bit. Pointless movie to be brutally honest. It's a very typical rom-com. Very formulaic and predictable. I might also add that it was surprisingly unfunny for a comedy. I didn't laugh once.Even with such a star-studded cast, it failed to make an impression. Everyone starring in this movie are usually great actors (and you gotta say that the acting was above-average), but the bad script/dialogue makes one wonder why they agreed to star in such a turkey.I liked Jordana Spiro in this. I thought she was most convincing in her role. Everyone was good, like I said. So, basically, the only thing going for this movie, is the talented cast.Perhaps 40+ divorcees, who are trying internet dating, might be able to relate to this... then again... maybe not. I wasn't.

A forty-something preschool teacher (Diane Lane) looks to the personals for a change of pace and a relationship, with hilarious results.I should probably rate this even lower, but I'm a sucker for John Cusack and enjoy watching him even in movies I do not generally enjoy. As other reviewers have noted ,the two leads do a fine job but are in a less-than-great movie. That sums it up nicely. Even by romantic comedy standards, this is pretty bland and not even much of a comedy.Christopher Plummer adds a bit of charm. It seems like he really came into his own as an older actor. I now find it hard to picture him as anything but a man in his later years full of class and wit.

An incredibly weak, predictable, drab and forced comedy. Hollywood loves churning out this contrived and unoriginal garbage. In fact, I'm surprised Jennifer Aniston wasn't in the lead role. It's exactly her kind of movie. A little into the story, I groaned and said said to my fellow viewers "I'll bet they are going to break into a pretend, warm and fuzzy family group-hug song at some point." And guess what? It happened! It was mortifying. It's especially bad when the actors look uncomfortable doing it and you can tell that they know they are filming a sure-fire flop.John Cusack looked like he'd rather be somewhere else - zero chemistry with Diane Lane. It must have been a paycheck for him. Unfortunately, that's happened with a lot of his movies in the past 10 or more years.

I 'm a guy and I m not into rom coms but I thoroughly enjoyed this one. Turns out IMDb users have rated it with 5.9. I 've decided that neither public opinion nor the critics are a good way to gauge a film, both are incredibly misguided, they don't have the appropriate intelligence, emotiveness, taste or flair. (!! HECK EVEN THE INBUILT IMDb DICTIONARY DOESN'T EVEN RECOGNISE THE WORD EMOTIVENESS AND THEY MARK IT IN THE PREVIEW AS A MISTAKE...they suggest that it be replaced with abortiveness, how about that for poetic irony) This might a bit on the harsh side but honesty has that tendency. Only a a friend whose taste you trust can really recommend a film. Anyway, I digressed enough. This is a sensitive, very well plotted and very funny film. I wasn't expecting this and I very positively surprised. First of all all the actors here give fantastic, even John Cussack who I thought had only been doing phone ins lately.Diane Lane, well what can you say about Ms. Lane, she's such a treat, such a dependable actress. Here she lets off her guard and delivers a very difficult performance (that of a woman growing older, being neurotic, being needy) in such a splendid way. She's so appealing here being so vulnerable. I thought no one could hold a candle to Diane Keaton in these types of roles but Lane here is a more mature Annie Hall for the 2000s. Actually the film is very Woody Allen-y in a lot of ways. The sublime Stockard Channing gives a fine performance too (what a fantastic comedienne, she could make watching paint dry entertaining, one of the truly great actors on the screen these days.), and so does Elizabeth Perkins, and the old master Christopher Plummer. But all the other characters are so well acted too. Absolutely fantastic casting here. Kudos for the direction here and of course the writing, there are some minor lines that gave me belly laughs. Most of them subtle and understated of course like much of this film. It seems unless you paint with these awful broad dramatic or comedic strokes people don't get it. And why would they. And what lovely dogs too!!A real unexpected treat this film, a fun, sensitive, silly and honest romantic comedy.
