Blitz (2011)

The style reminds me of an episode of the old Sweeney series with extra violence and of course Jason doing his thing. It definitely does not come across as a movie but a BBC produced crime drama.Nothing spectacular and not anywhere near as good as Transporter, Mechanic but will pass the evening with a beer and some crisps but thats about it!

This film has no intelligence, no originality and is a complete joke. It's embarrassing to watch quite frankly.Paddy Considine and Aiden Gillen (both seriously talented actors) are wasted.Jason Statham has all the menace of a Magnum 44 made of Ice Cream - and the lines he delivers are made of first class Oak.This film actually depressed and annoyed me because people are spending serious money on making this dross- to attempt to pander to the voyeuristic and sadistic within us all - and making a joke out of it. It is neither exciting, clever, thought-provoking or moving in any respect.If you want to watch something violent which is intelligent and creative (i.e. not third-division)- then watch "Dead Man's Shoes", and see Paddy Considine in action as the revengeful ex-army assassin.

Big regrets here. It was late. I was tired. I figured, I really didn't want to think too much, if at all, so I'll play it safe and just put a Statham flick on. I'm not familiar with the source material, but this will be weak tea for any Statham fan. Just lame, cliché-ridden, "Dirty Harry" stuff from beginning to end without any compelling story. The book has got to be better, it certainly couldn't be worse. Not quite as bad as a two, but no way I'll give it more than a three. Basically, I'm just so mad at myself--I could have grabbed so many other movies, and I went instead with this run-of-the-mill TV-grade pulp. At least it was short. My bad.

Now there has been a lot of Jason Statham action films over the years some good and some bad but this one fits in the middle as distinctly average. This story sees Stathams character looking for a cop killer called the blitz. Now Statham is really good in this film doing his best to combine the action and humour that he is really good at and he is easily the best part of the film which is no shock. The rest of the cast is not great though, now aiden Gillen is a good actor and he does a villain well and this film is really no different with his performance being pretty memorable. Stathams detective partner and the female cop aren't very convincing and there story plots especially the female cops is completely unnecessary and a complete waste of time. We do get a nice cameo from Luke Evans but it is not enough to make up for the overall cast. The story is pretty terrible to be honest with the main story being incredibly simplistic and the reasoning behind everything was not really explained. Also it spent way too much on the secondary story and I hated it. The script is okay with most of Stathams lines being funny and gillans being creepy but the rest was very simplistic and nothing really to it. The style is a bit of a mixed bag with the backgrounds being exactly the same as a lot of films and it does nothing new. But I do give this film credit for the fact that it was willing to show more violent action. Overall this is just an average film and unless you enjoy Statham films you can miss it.
