| Drama Action War

Drawn from interviews with survivors of Easy Company, as well as their journals and letters, Band of Brothers chronicles the experiences of these men from paratrooper training in Georgia through the end of the war. As an elite rifle company parachuting into Normandy early on D-Day morning, participants in the Battle of the Bulge, and witness to the horrors of war, the men of Easy knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear - and became the stuff of legend. Based on Stephen E. Ambrose's acclaimed book of the same name.

I picked this TV series only for its poster and its catchy title. Then I was amazed to see Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg serving as executive producer for the show because saving private Ryan is one of my favorite movie. I watched the whole series in one sitting spellbound and amazed. WWII has always interested me as a history student and I never miss a chance to watch any movie or TV series centered on WWII. After watching band of brothers bravery of easy company made me cry. Especially the seventh episode ' the breaking point' focusing on Carwood Lipton's importance. Donnie Wahlberg nailed the character, in my opinion playing Lipton's character is Donnie best work till date. Not only Donnie but every actor who played a role in this show was awesome. If you call yourself a movie geek but haven't seen this one, I suggest you do it now. A master piece indeed.

This review contains spoilers.Band of Brothers is a HBO miniseries following Easy Company of the 101st paratrooper division from boot-camp to the surrender of Germany. The miniseries takes a grounded look at the paratroopers in Easy Company across boot-camp, D-Day, Operation Market Garden, The Battle of the Bulge, and the occupation of Germany. Each episode follows a small group of soldiers with recurring characters from earlier episodes.Band of Brothers is a high budget miniseries. Each scene and episode has the high production values and sets that a movie does. This is one of the great pros of the series as the high budget improves the enjoyment of the series and allows most of what was described in the book and memoirs to happen on the screen. There are pitched battles, tank battles, and patrols all at a high budget here. With another company that may not have been willing to spend the budget, the show would have absolutely suffered in quality of execution. Each episode explores select soldiers in Easy Company. This became an interesting draw for each episode as they all felt distinct. I found myself caring about each focus character with me continuing to care when they would become a recurring character in other episodes.Band of Brothers is highly recommended. The miniseries is a great examination of a paratrooper company in World War 2.

"Band of Brothers" in a word is awesome. I couldn't wait to see each episode. Co-Executive Produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg, it has the realism, look and feel of Spielberg's "Saving Private Ryan" (1998) but with more insight into the characters. Hanks even directed one episode himself."Band of Brothers" in a word is awesome. I couldn't wait to see each episode.
