What Dreams May Come (1998)

First, I won't keep it a secret: I am a great Robin Williams fan and I think that this is one of his best movies of all his career. I was bowled over by the story and the colours of the paintings - very very vibrant.Robin Williams plays a man with a perfect personal life. Sadly, his two children die in an accident, and he dies in a car crash and with the help of a custodian angel (played well by Cuba Gooding jr.) travels in a long trek between Heaven and Hell through his wife's paintings, and along the way he discovers some experiences and a tracker (Max Von Sydow) that helps him in the quest for his wife (that ended in Hell after suicide). I won't spoil the end... just see the film by yourself and have a treat!Everything in this movie is great: Williams' performance is majestic beyond words, as a man that after death searches his beloved wife, and also Gooding jr and Von Sydow were great in their roles. The colours of the paintings were very vibrant (a visual eye candy for art lovers like me), and the soundtrack was also good.Overall, nearly a masterpiece and one of Robin Williams' best movies ever! And if you don't like this movie you must be dead or should go to a psychiatrist.P.S. I cried a bit in some points and you should have some hankerchief near you for the sad moments.

Sometimes we must consider that we aren't living in heaven. We're on earth and here is full of different problems. Girls are trying to seek for a rich man to make for them a dreamy heaven on earth.

Good idea , bad story , stupid description for heaven , just a garden with stupid floating people and the hell is a wreckage of a battle ship the movie is 110 mins , 100 mins full of sadness , sorrow , depression , only 10 mins you can enjoy , the idea is good should make a nice adventure , romantic movie , but what happened here is just depression , the movie maker try to stress on any painful human feelings like losing kids , losing wife , losing husband , why ? you can watch this movie only if you want to hurt yourself , and feel pain & cry

A little while back, I watched Jim Carrey's effort to be taken seriously after a slew of comedies, "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". This is a similar effort (this time from Robin Williams), but not nearly as intriguing.For a basic plot summary, this film centers on the other-worldly experiences of Chris Nielson (Williams), who dies suddenly in a car wreck. He discovers that the hereafter is whatever his mind makes it, and thus rather peacefully resides within a painting of his wife, Annie (Annabella Sciorra). The only thorn in Nielson's "ever-after", though, is the real-world depression (and eventual death) of his wife. Then, when Annie is sent to "the other place", Chris begins a quest to save her from her darkest demon: herself.What makes this movie interesting to watch is the fantastic imagery. The visual rendering of heaven and hell are quite stunning, and not something you'll see in any other film. It is filled with color, pizazz, and great imagination.Unfortunately, the plot doesn't nearly measure up to the visual effects. It ultimately takes much too long to reach its zenith, and in between the viewers are left with some uneven emotional moments. Some will make you care and draw you in, while others don't have that desired effect.Overall, this is a decent film, but on that doesn't hold a candle to its nearest cohort ("Eternal Sunshine..."). Watch it for the stunning visuals, but don't expect much more depth.
