Hoodwinked 2: Hood Vs Evil (2011): Dir: Mike Disa / Voices: Hayden Panettiere, Glenn Close, Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Cory Edwards: Hoodwinked is an underrated and hilarious animated treasure full of originality on its measures on the classic Red Riding Hood story. This sequel has moments of inspiration but it pales in comparison to the first film. Hansel and Gretel are kidnapped and are the bait for a cooking sacrifice unless Granny conjures up the secret ingredient to a magical recipe. Red is busy training when the first mission fails. She is reunited with the Wolf and his sidekick Twitchy the squirrel to form a rescue mission. To do so they must seek out the giant whom reigns on the beanstalk. Director Mike Disa is backed with animated moments that inspires laughter but the freshness is gone. Hayden Panettiere replaces Anne Hathaway voicing Red who breaks training to undergo a rescue that she will learn that she cannot do alone. Glenn Close as Granny outsmarts the witch only to be outsmarted in a superb plot twist. Patrick Warburton as the Wolf feels like a screw up due to the first mission foil but he will eventually have to form an alliance with Red. Joan Cusack voices Verushka the witch who shares a past with Granny. Cory Edwards, who directed the superior original film, provides the noises of Twitchy Squirrel. The third act is mostly juvenile violence with solutions that seem all too convenient. The first film showcased creative storytelling and a fun take on the classic characters. This sequel doesn't measure up enough hot air to blow down the straw house. Score: 4 / 10

Hoodwinked 1 was a pretty interesting film with hilarious twist, acting, solid writing and a great story. Now that I have heard about this sequel,I got a bunch of crap to say about this.First of all: characters Red is the same character Granny is the damsel in distress Wolf has some character development...sort of Twitchy(who was very funny in the 1st movie film),now talks regular Hansen & Gretel Are Terrible Villains Versuka The Witch Is Just that Villain Turned Good Guy And Kirk...WHAT THE HELL Happened TO HIM. HE ACTS LIKE A HOMOSEXUALThe plot feels as if it was a spy adventure comedy, however it,makes,no sense and there is a a few plot holes from then and there. The animation did improve a bit,but there are a few uncanny valley scenes And the lip sinking is terrible at timesThe voices are okay, but without Anne Hathaway &,Jim Belsuhi, its not the same. Hayden Paneteire Makes A Good Red but Martin Short Makes A Gay Impression Of Homosexual Stereotype. (No offense)As much as it wants to offer, "Hoodwinked Too: Hood Vs. Evil" Is one of those sequels that doesn't improve upon the first with a plot that feels tiring, animation that looks okay but doesn't look as good at times, characters trapped in madness and voices that are not the same. After I watched this recently, its not as good as I remembered the 1st time.-D.Hidden Howard

Hoodwinked! (2005) was a mildly unique movie that had very underwhelming animation, but it was able to more than make up for it with clever writing, funny characters, and a lot of great gags. Sure, it looked awful, but it was still a great animated movie.Hoodwinked Too!... not so much. The amount of problems with Hoodwinked Too! are beyond count. It is an awful movie on almost every level, and it has maybe only one or two jokes that are kind of funny. The plot... is... generic and terribly paced. Pacing is probably the movie's biggest issue because there is almost no explanation for why things happen when they happen. Are we shifting scenes to a new random location? Are we on a new mission without properly explaining why? Red and Wolf now can't stand each other even though they were friends in the last movie? Red and Wolf have an emotional breakdown with non- stop bickering about who's fault it was that a mission failed, but there is no build-up to this anger so it is random... does this happen? Yes. The characters in this movie talk only in exposition and do so in such a terrible manner. They reveal their emotions and all of their thoughts so much that it sounds like the characters are simply reading off of a summary of themselves. An even worse example is that Red and Grandma have a supposedly emotional scene where they are both captured... the only problem with this is that it also the very first time both characters are seen in the same shot together. It is hilariously bad how they are talking to each other as if they have had any conversations with each other before and yet they haven't. It is really stupid. Now, while the first movie had bad animation for its time, it was used cleverly and still had some good shots. However, this movie, not only has bad animation, it just looks downright ugly. To make matters even worse, not only is the animation ugly, but the shots and camera angles are downright awful a lot of the time. Pretty much the entire Beanstalk scene was awful to look at and had derpy shots. Even the character designs in this movie are far worse than the last movie. To add to THAT, ALL OF THE CHARACTERS MOVE HORRIBLY! All of the walking animations look gosh awful. Heck, they even ruined Nicky Flippers' graceful walking and calm attitude.Almost all of the characters have been rewritten and don't act the same as before. Also, a lot of the new characters that are thrown in are equally bad. There is a cameo where it turns out the Happy Yodelers were actually secret spies and fighters... wow... plot- twist. But, they are never seen before the plot-twist, so it doesn't make sense. You need to introduce them first, then do the plot- twist. You can't have them show up as a plot-twist with a twist! It is just plain stupid! So while all of that is awful, one of the worst elements of the movie is that it thinks it is a good movie. I'm not even joking, the movie has at least 3-4 meta/fourth wall jokes about how "Sequels are always nice" or "I like deserved sequels" and other stuff like that. It is really sad because either the makers have absolutely no idea that it was an awful movie or else they know it is an awful movie and they were throwing in cheesy sarcasm to express their hate for the project. All in all, Hoodwinked Too! Hood vs. Evil is far worse than anything I could've expected it is just downright bad. I thought that maybe this movie was at least half-entertaining... but it is only fun to make fun of. Also, I am quite aware that this was originally going to be a straight to DVD release, but that is no excuse.

The first Hoodwinked had poor animation, but was made on a budget and had a fantastic script. It was witty, clever, and most of all likable. Hoodwinker Too seems like it was created by a new batch of film makers that completely missed the point. It wasn't. The original writers return, but I don't know what happened to the humour. The animation isn't great, but that could be excused by quality content. What isn't excusable is the awful shot composition. There's a fight scene that looks like a 2D side- scrolling platformer. The jokes are few and far between, and as the movie tries to expand on its forest origins into a big city, it only shows the lack of funds and resources, as you see the same characters over and over again. The voice work isn't terrible, but it's hard to care towards the end. The original had clever mystery with a Rashomon narrative. Here it's all linear, and tries to spoof too many action movies.
