I absolutely love movies that make me unsettled and queasy; movies that from time to time even force me to close my eyes because I just can't take it anymore. Kudos to "Frozen." It managed to pull all that off brilliantly. Not long ago I had watched "247 Degrees Fahrenheit," and in the course of reading reviews of that movie came across some references to this one, and had to watch it. "247 Degrees Fahrenheit" was about a group of friends trapped in a sauna and dying from the heat. "Frozen" presents the opposite scenario. In this, a group of three friends go ski-ing for the day and are accidentally stranded on the ski lift after the ski hill closes down. They're high above the ground, it's bitterly cold, it's totally dark because the lights have been shut off, there's a snowstorm starting and the hill is going to be closed for a week. At first they think someone will realize what's happened and they'll be quickly rescued, but soon reality sets in. They're trapped. Possibly for days. They could easily die. How can they save themselves? It's actually a pretty simple movie. Most of it is set in the ski lift chair. "Minimalistic" suits this. Low budget as well. But the story works, the plight is real. You empathize with these people; you almost suffer with them. Dan (Kevin Zegers) decides that the only thing that could save them is for him to risk jumping off the chair and hopefully being able to go for help. He tries. He breaks his legs horribly. It's graphic. It's quease inducing. We hear howling. There's obviously a pack of wolves nearby. Dan is injured and bloodied and completely helpless. The wolves close in and attack. It's quease inducing. Dan's friend Joe (Shawn Ashmore) tries next. He'll try to pull himself hand over hand along the ski lift cable to a nearby tower with a ladder. The cable is sharp. His hands are bloodied. He tries, he gives up, he tries again. He's way up high clinging to a cable. It's quease inducing. He makes it to the tower and comes down - and encounters the wolves. His fate is a mystery for a while. Finally there's Parker (Emma Bell) left on the chair all alone. She's terrified and suffering badly from frost bite. In some ways the saddest parts of the movie are when Parker talks about her puppy that she left at home who's going to starve waiting for her to come home to feed him, and then when she just can't "hold it" anymore and she pees her pants. She's humiliated, and you feel for her. You really do. The chair is starting to slip off the cable - which works to her advantage. It gets low enough that she can jump. She alone manages to escape - coming across Joe's body, half eaten by the wolves, along the way.At times this is terrifying. At times this is sad. You get drawn into the plight of the characters. I'm totally unfamiliar with Zegers, Ashmore and Bell but I thought they did a superb job. I'm giving this a 10 - not because I think it's Oscar-worthy or anything like that (or even one of the best movies ever made.) I'm giving it a 10 because it brought forth some very raw feelings and reactions from me, in a way that movies very rarely are able to do. And, after watching this, I am convinced that I will never, ever take up ski-ing. Never.

PROS: To start off, the plot was extravagantly thought out. Although it was simple and plain there was a lot that they covered. They covered who, where, what, when, why, and how, and this made the film run very seamlessly. To add on, the build up in tension was very well realized and it was able to keep steady throughout the duration of the film. This was able to distract from the rather basic idea of the film as a whole, but even though it was basic, it wasn't boring. They acting was spotty in many places, but my favorite actor, Shawn Ashmore, who played JOE carried the film for me. Another thing that was helpful was the marketing. I don't normally pipe in on the advertising/movie cover, but this movie did an excellent job at delivering the message of the movie in a single picture, which was helpful.CONS: To continue with the acting, the big problem that I had with this movie was the inconsistency. The characters should feel real even when they aren't in a "horrifying" scene. Relationships between the characters start when they laugh and talk normally, not when the scary stuff happens. The last issue I had was the ending. I watch horror movies to see the intensity of what a person will do in a time of struggle, and in this movie they didn't deliver that message to the end. Although the ending was nice, it just wasn't for me. Overall this movie is a must see!www.chorror.com

2010 movie, I watched in 2017 now. This movie is realistic spine chilling thriller. No much plot or movement in the story-line, but it has just done well to entertain. I liked the concept and it is bad as real. Cinematography is so good that as much you love icy mountains, so much you will terrify with the same in the night. This movie seems stuck, but important thing is to get into their shoes and understand how difficult it is to get out of the situation. You will live with the character as a lonely person who needs desperate help in the frozen night..

Frozen was released in 2010, and received great acclaim through horror movie reviews and critics to be one of the best horror movies of the year. Why is it always some of the worst horror movies of the year are meant to be the best ones?Frozen is entirely illogical.Number one: there are employees on ski sites that check the ski lifts at the end of every shift to ensure that the events in this movie do not happen Number two: wolves are not native to anywhere in this area. The only logical explanation for wolves being in this area is that they are pets of someone who lives near the ski lodge - and the ski grounds would have to be in a 30 mile radius. This is highly unlikely. Number three: wolves do not kill randomly like are shown in this movie. They only attack if hungry, and wouldn't attack to kill the skiers unless they were in the wolf den - this would be because they are seen as intruders and must be removed from the den and territory. Going back to point two, the 30 mile radius I mentioned, is the territory a wolf pack keeps.Number four: the inaccuracy of the woman's skin disappearing from the metal after it's just been pulled off because it was frozen to it. Sorry, did it just come off in the wind?Number five: the film basically just being Parker's sobbing face on close up. This got boring very quickly. Director and editor should have come up with better crap.Number six: they're freezing up there and don't think to put gloves on, put their hands in their pockets or do their jackets up? This is meant to be a survival movie, no?The entire movie was just illogical and annoying.I enjoyed that acting which is why I gave it such a 'high' review but this was one of the worst films I have ever watched. Cross it off your to watch list and don't come near it. Trust me. Not worth the hour and a half it takes to watch.
