Okay, where in the hell do I start? Okay the plot is about The Addams Family getting a letter in the mail about a family reunion and with Gomez's grandparents (who look more like his actual parents considering Tim Curry's age) acting all...normal, they decide to go and see if anyone has encountered the disease they're suffering from and if they could find a family cure but wouldn't you know it, this is the Adams family, a seemingly normal family who are all money grabbers and want the eldest member's inheritance. One member goes so far and actually poison's him. How will things go with the Addams Family there? In the end, this should tell you whats wrong with the movie, there is not a single voice of reason. The extended rich family are so dysfunctional they make The Simpsons look like The Brady Bunch. Not only that but everyone in this film is so mean spirited that there is not a single like able character. I honestly think the director only saw snip its of the show on TV or something because any enjoyment out of the show is virtually non existent in this movie. The jokes in this film don't work because as weird as the Addams family was in the show, they all loved each other and would help each other solve their own problems. Good thing in this movie that everyone could easily be perceived as a prick and the problem solving is done by a senile old man. Not only that but Gomez and Morticia's chemistry is actually non existent. I know it gets annoying every time I say "in the show" this or "in the show" that but...In the show they had a very erotic chemistry, in 20 minutes of the show, Gomez would passionately kiss Morticia repeatedly...in 50 minutes of this film, they exchange a kiss you'd expect from mother and son and...thats the height of their chemistry. Now not only that but, I know I wont shut up about this, the people in this movie are so vindictive and basically, they're bastards, even the Addams Family which would also destroy any hope a potential fan would have for entering either the show or the other two films (which I haven't seen). This, of course, renders every single joke to being unfunny and downright in bad taste. The acting is also crap. The only person that actually looked like he was trying to pull off the role he was in was Tim Curry and...I have to admit, some of his schtick is the only funny moments in the film and they're just little chuckles but they still count considering what else passes off as a joke in this film.Overall this movie is crap, its a disrespect to the original show, its a disrespect to the Addams family name and the whole thing is just so mean spirited. There is not one aspect of this film that lives up to the show (not even the effects or the sets) if you want the Addams family, watch the other movies (that I haven't seen) or if not that, watch the show that has become a part of pop culture, don't rely on this p*ss stain of a film.

Tim Curry is right up amongst the top brilliant actors, and I've always admired the acting of Daryl Hannah and Ray Walston as well. But their skills are completely hidden in this movie. They were all hopelessly miscast, and misdirected, with a childish script. A complete disaster all round. Gone is the clever, witty, black humour. Gone are the cleverly portrayed demented characters. Gone is the magic of the Addams superb support, understanding and love for each other. Watch the TV series over and over. See the first two Addams Family movies too, relishing every moment. And avoid this awful movie like the plague.

This 3rd Addams Family film seems to be a movie adaptation of the 1990's cartoon series as opposed to the Original Black & White TV series which the first two films were based on. This movie has "comedic" elements which give it a completely different style to the first two movies. And not in a good way.The premise of this film, a family reunion of the Addams family, is utterly preposterous considering there was a family reunion all the way back in the first Addams Family film, when Uncle Fester had a party thrown in his honour. You have to wonder if the people who made this film had ever even seen the other two. It would appear the characters certainly hadn't as they mistake a group of people with the last name of "Adams" for "Addams".It's not surprising this film was direct-to-video. However it is surprising that this film was made at all.

I found this terrible. Please, don't bother even LOOKING at the case. I shudder each time I think of it. Raul Julia would be turning in his grave.Tim Curry. A name known throughout the world. He is a brilliant actor and I have found his other work to be particularly enjoyable- emphasis on OTHER. He seems so intent to replicate Raul Julia that he doesn't (replicate him). Gomez is terribly out of character and is rather more like a prim English butler in a Gomez suit than Gomez Addams. Was he so far in Raul Julia's shadow that he could not bring his own skills to the movie? Daryl Hannah at least I expected something worthwhile from. I've seen reviews that sang her praises and found myself utterly disappointed. She tries so hard to imitate the fey-like quality that Anjelica Huston brought to the character that I almost pity her because she overdoes it. Her features are distinctly different from that of Huston's and her overall looks are too perfect to really make Morticia come alive. And where are the most classic parts of the couple's relationship? As shown in The Addams Family and Addams Family Values, Gomez and Morticia are unashamed by their blatant displays of affection- affection so overwhelming that at certain points it becomes almost corny in Addams Family Reunion. Not once do we see Gomez trailing kisses along Morticia's arm (a near trademark) and in the beginning of the movie where we are offered a tidbit of the two in bed together, which I suppose is meant to be teasing, I was surprised to find that the scene incorporated none of the sensuality that accompanied Gomez and Morticia in the previous two movies. NGAH. CANON HAS BEEN MURDERED.Don't even look in this movie's direction.
