Good in the day, but forgot due it's hilarious and campy Adam west's version of the Dark Knight. If you enjoy batman light toned and campy this is perfect for you if not, it's still worth a watch for a laugh

(Flash Review)The Comic Book On Screen. It really is like a live action comic as it is intentionally goofy and it amusingly pokes fun at itself. The jokes run the gamut from funny to very tacky. Full of fun characters and Adam West is really good for the character portrayal he is going for. All the villains are solid. One might be skeptical of the plot but it is good, very fun and has an overall unique charm. It is certainly of its time and now cemented in history.

What is there not to love about the campy 1960's "Batman" series which also spawned a movie in order to reach out to an overseas audience. And "Batman: The Movie" turned out to capture the very essence of the series, for good or worse.I grew up watching the series on TV, so the movie was of course also enjoyable to watch. Especially because you have just about every single villain of the Batman universe thrown into the midst here, which adds something for everyone. And then there is of course the Dynamic Duo with their snappy dialogue, gadgets and a storyline that was just wonderfully hilarious.Adam West plays Batman and Burt Ward plays Robin in this 1966 movie. But they weren't the only original cast to make it from the series. The 1966 movie also includes Lee Meriwether as Catwoman, Cesar Romero as The Joker, Burgess Meredith as The Penguin, Frank Gorshin as The Ridler, Alan Napier as Alfred, Neil Hamilton as Commissioner Gordon and Stafford Repp as Chief O'Hara. The story is a simple one at best, leaving it very easy for everyone to follow, even newcomers to the franchise who might not otherwise have been familiar with the original series. The crime lords of Gotham have united in order for world domination, but they have to outwit the Dynamic Duo that is Batman and Robin.I especially loved the way that every item was marked with an explanatory sign in the Bat Cave and in the various vehicles the Dynamic Duo had. It was so hilarious. But hand on heart, it is because that I grew up with the series that I find this 1966 movie enjoyable and am rating it a six out of ten stars. If you have only seen the "Batman" movies of a more recent age, then you are most likely to find this 1966 movie laughable and silly.

Batman: The Movie (1966): Dir: Leslie H. Martinson / Cast: Adam West, Burt Ward, Lee Meriwether, Burgess Meredith, Cesar Romero: Pathetic campy comic book embarrassment with actors looking more like overgrown kids in a pyjama party then superheroes. Batman and his sidekick Robin must foil a world domination scheme by Catwoman, The Penguin, The Joker, and The Riddler. It is a surprise that the kitchen sink wasn't in on this deal. Cardboard art direction with words such as "pow", "whack" and "wham" when violence occurs. I can think of a few more words to describe the action such as "sucks," "stupid" and "idiotic." Director Leslie H. Martinson gives viewers a rubber shark that Batman hilariously beats on with loud hollow thuds, and a whale that just happened to cross a missile thus saving our heroes from certain death. Terrible acting by Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin who look similar to kids on Halloween night. Lee Meriwether, Cesar Romero and Burgess Meredith are featured among villains and they look about as stupid as our heroes donning what appears to be bad Halloween costumes. There was obviously anticipation upon this film's release due too comic book fans but the delivery is far below juvenile easily becoming one of the worst films of the year. It is truly hideous and should be hit with a missile as well. I'm sure no whale would spare it. Score: 1 / 10
