It makes no sense to me that this movie has such a low average rating on IMDb. The cinematography is excellent, the direction is good and the acting is fine. There is never a dull moment from beginning to end. The fight choreography is very good, and the costumes are realistic and accurate for the time in history. The hero's love interest played by Annabelle Wallis is very beautiful and is the ideal person to play her character, and Stanley Weber was likewise perfect for his role as the Shadow Walker.I highly recommend this movie to anyone who likes historical action dramas. It's not overly long, and it's entertaining throughout. From http://www.bbc.co.uk/history/british/normans/invasion_threat_01.shtm l "To prevent future raids and crush internal resistance, William I adopted a 'scorched earth' policy known as the 'harrowing of the north', and castles appeared throughout England to garrison a resident military force."

I haven't watched Hammer of the Gods, so Sword of Vengeance was a completely fresh and new impression for me. Frankly speaking, I expected (and feared) to see something alike Valhalla Rising, but fortunately I was wrong in my expectations. Here we have not an art house movie, full of hidden meanings and symbols, but quite frank and straightforward story about vengeance (as you may guess from the title). Plot retains logic almost till the end, slightly (or completely, depends on the point of view) losing grip on reality in the final part. Would it stood firm until the ending credits, for me it would be one of the best films I saw this year. The Sword of vengeance is built on visuals, and by visuals I mean not only effects (which are mostly practical by the way) but the whole filming and editing thing. It's stylish, well-sustained and strong in every scene. In fact the visuals in this movie are self-sufficient, especially in combination with the sound. Plot, and even actors' performance may be put aside, neglected – and the movie still would look great. In fact actors are not bad. I would say they did well enough, at least to stay on the level and not waste the good, almost perfect picture. The fighting scenes are good, but the lack of budget still can be seen through them, especially in large-scale battles. Director was careful enough not to exceed the scale beyond his limits, but these limits still were very tight. That's why from time to time we feel the lack of men in the shot and battles look sliced into separate pieces, which run separately from each other. In duels there are too many slow-motion that meant to hide simple, ascetic fighting choreography, and all the other scenes are tend to be static and mute.Despite all of above-mentioned as a whole picture is good and gives you a good emotional impact. I guess, it's because of director's and operator's talents. As I've said already, would the writer to as good as them – movie would be very, remarkably good. No one would expect a complicated intrigue for a plot, but remain logical is crucial in such cases. So the movie is good, but not as good as it could be – with just a slight script edition.

"The God's can no longer wait." When an evil ruler begins to oppress the land the is only one man that can fight back and restore peace. The fighter they find only wants one thing...blood. This is a hard movie to review. First of all, this is not really my type of movie. I have never been a big fan of the mid-evil genre and wasn't a huge fan of Hammer of the Gods so I wasn't really expecting much from this. All that said there was one thing that was really distracting and hard to get past. In the movie 300, during the fight scenes the camera slows down and speeds up so much that it takes you out of the movie. In this movie, they slow down the fighting...but never speed it back up. This may seem like a little thing but when it's overused it becomes far too distracting for you to focus on what is happening in the movie. I do have to say that although the movie seemed pretty low budget, the use of the sepia-like filter made it seem like the movie has made for more than it was. Overall, if you liked Hammer of the Gods you will most likely like this one as well. As for me, the technical issues were too much for me to get past. I give this a C.

I watched this movie without expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. The action is good. The acting is good for being a direct to DVD movie. Even better than expected. What really bugs me these days is, no matter what type of action movie. They always gonna have the good guys spend valuable time in the heat of the battle, mourning the dead. Just so the bad guy can get an upper hand or pull some dirty trick. Someone really need to update the textbook on that one ,cause it get stupefying boring ,not to mention predictable to the point where you just fast forward to something more interesting. Or just turn of the movie all together The end fight was a great up until a certain point. *******spoilers**********spoilers*************spoilers********** What ruins the end fight was that.suddenly when one person fell, all of the others who at that time had been holding their own pretty good, suddenly fought like amateurs. And started falling like domino pieces. That was just too stupid. Up until than me and my friends were entertained.but when they did that,we just fast forwarded
