I love Knocked Up, but this is just so much better in every way - though they are completely different films that just share some of the same characters, so I can understand what some people didn't take to it. The tone is similar, but nowhere near as low-brow or goofy as Knocked Up is and the general narrative is a lot deeper. It's just a window into the lives of a couple sliding towards middle age....a place they really don't want to be, and a fact they hate to be reminded of. My favourite Apatow movie by a long shot, and probably my favorite performance from Paul Rudd as well. He and Leslie Mann really knock this one out of the park.

Seriously, i don't remember a lot of normal or even funny conversations in this movie. actually this movie is NOT a comedy! its a drama movie! all the time people shouting and fighting over stupid things. it was so bad i almost wanted to leave the theatre in the middle of the movie which i usually never do. i don't remember much of the story but at least i remember there wasn't any story worth telling. just a glimpse into the life of a dysfunctional family where everyone is unhappy.

This is a comedy film that's a spin-off to Knocked Up. The main characters in this film - Debbie and Pete - are the sister and brother- in-law of the protagonist in Knocked Up. They're a dysfunctional middle-class family who live in suburban Los Angeles.Leslie Mann is a very good actress - and this is an above-average comedy. However, it's too long for the content in it.

I've heard said that this is Apatow's worst movie. This is complete horse dang. This picture has more real body to it than anything he's done. It's not just a bald comedy. It's life. That is, pain and humor. Bluster and secrets. Beauty and embarrassment. Sean Penn said once that if you want entertainment, go get an 8-ball and a few prostitutes. That real art is about sharing. The things that make us less alone. I'll wrap up here cause I feel myself getting verbose but Leslie Mann is a Got damn revelation. As are her children, especially the oldest daughter, Maude. This movie got too little recognition. I only hope it gets a cult-y thing going before its all said and done. Who knows? Movies live forever. Thank God.
