Domino (2005)

If there's a movie I'd compare Domino to, it's Natural Born Killers. Not that those two films have much thing common, apart from being huge disappointments, and mostly the most annoying parts are similar.Why did I want to watch Domino or NBK? The stories were interesting. They were simple, yet intriguing. But in both cases the story is ruined by the director trying too hard to be very unique in their style of directing. Even the simplest, most boring way is better than throwing too many details in one absolute sh*t show.In this case the story was ruined by the large amount of characters, while many of them seem like trivialities compared to the main trio. It is hard to keep a track on who did what and who is who. Sometimes even the main plot seems like it doesn't matter, that there's something more important to the movie, but I can't figure out what that could be. At first Domino seems visually interesting, but that wears off soon. The way this film is shot is confusing and hard to follow, even if it sometimes looks real pretty. The strongest quality of the cinematography is the colour scheme, yet that is used in very few scenes, contrast to really annoying effects. Those special effects are used so much they lose their effect, which is where Tony Scott f*cked up. Those little fun effects would've made this film great, if they hadn't been used every five seconds. This is why this film's technical strengths became its greatest weaknesses.The best thing about this film is Keira Knightley, who is an extremely good actress, and since I've liked her since my childhood (Pirates of the Caribbean), it's always wonderful to see her in a movie.In short, the story was butchered and Tony Scott tried too hard to be artistic instead of making a simple action biography that more people could enjoy without getting a f*cking headache from the effects used.

The first time I watched this film I thought it was maybe the worst movie I had ever seen. It was so overdone, overproduced, and the direction so poor. Moreover, the script was not the strongest. However, you are drawn in by the fact that this is a pretty impressive cast. And it is the cast that saves this film from itself. The three leads deliver, especially Rourke, who is great in everything. You also have Delray Lindo and others aiding the production. In the end, this film is like a drug, it might not be good for you, but I'll be damned if it is not addictive. If you are curious as to the story, I would say it was 99% fiction, even though it claims to be based on a true story, but hey, this is Hollywood.

I have to give this show a 10. My husband was an extra in this show in Vegas. i actually got to meet Ian Zering and Keira. if you watch the movie you will see him walk in front of the cab parked in valet. he looks at Keira and she at him. Also he is sitting in the bar. it has a lot of very good action scenes. And very interesting when Domino gets to tell her life story. I like this movie because there is a mixture of suspense and a whole lot of action. I think keira Knightly did a bang up job in this movie"literally". I like her acting bette4r in this movie as "Domino" than on pirates. She is a very good actress with multi talents.

There is quite a lot of stars here : Keira Knightley ("Pirates of Caribbean " series) , Mickey Rourke ("Harry angel") , Brian Austin Green and Ian Ziering ("Beverly Hills 90210) , Lucy Liu ("Charlie's Angels) , Christopher Walken ("The Deer hunter") , Peter Jacobson ("House MD") , singer Macy Gray and TV-host Jerry Springer .There is no acting here, only posing. To be honest , the main reason I've decided to watch this movie was to see Knightley naked . I have to admit I was disappointed . The movie is rated R , yet we get only to see a lap dance (quite good) and one sex scene , where you can barely see her breasts . I have to admit that Knightley has one of the smallest breasts I have ever scene. Too bad. Such a pretty face, such a small breasts.The plot is about... God only knows . Is it a movie about a girl from affluent but dysfunctional background who grew to be a tough bounty hunter ? Is it a movie about big robber ? Is it a movie about a sad Afro-American woman on Jerry Springer show ? Is it a movie about media? What about all the other subplots : the crazy Afghani guy bent on liberating Afghanistan, the love story between Domino and Chocco, the mescaline episode, the FBI surveillance operation...The overall story had potential for thriller , but in the end characters action don't make sense like the rest of this movie. The story is completely discontinuous and confusing to watch. Certain aspects of the plot were ridiculous and totally unbelievable."Donnie Darko" was also written by Richard Kelly. It was chaotic , sure but made sense in the end anh was though provoking. This is just mess from one-hot wonder writer/director Kelly.Too much of flashy MTV style of editing. It looks cool at first , but quickly becomes annoying TO THE VERY END OF THE MOVIE.All style , no substance or sense . Tony Scott and Richard Kelly what have you done ? I give it 1/10. I would rather watch "Top gun" . Cheesy , but good product that was enjoyable and made sense. This ? This is pure trash.
