I don't often write reviews on movies, but seeing the bad reviews I wanted to set some things right. I loved every minute of the movie. The movie is not suited for everybody I have to admit, because the movie is about what really matters in life and that is not something everybody understands. This movie is not meant for a certain age or gender, it is for people that really understand the little things only matter in life. So on the one hand the movie might seem to be one without a story line because there is not a lot of action or drama but the story is all about reading between the lines. This might even be one of the best movies I have ever seen. So if you know how to enjoy life as it is, you will like the movie.

The movie had potential...but I ended up falling asleep 20 minutes in. There was not much of a storyline, they had some cute, sad, funny parts- but not enough to keep me entertained. I was hoping with Diane Keaton and Morgan Freeman there would be a great movie, their acting is great, and they played their part. But the sad thing is that there was not a lot to work with. The book hopefully was better, as I did not even see an ad for this movie- which means it did not generate enough reviews or popularity. In whole- a couple after 40 years looks to selling their apartment- right then and there that is the entire basis of this movie- no great dialogue or parts that make you want to watch. I never fall asleep watching a movie- and I dozed off. When I woke up- I rewinded to where I last was and realized I did not miss one single thing. I'd skip this movie unless you really like long...dull...movies.

What goes around comes around... This film makes some compelling points - there's nothing like history to create incredible intimacy and not much is more intimate than the home one makes... Time matters - and wisdom is understanding what it's meant and what it means... A great view should never be underestimated! All the other things that change around us does not have to "change us"...Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton, the duo surprised me... Another two or three 'affectionate' exchanges between them would have made me happier - but it worked! Their chemistry made the profoundness of sharing a long and satisfying life together very believable...Diane Keaton scaled down her usual shtick and Claire van der Boom was spot-on as a young Diane... Morgan Freeman's 'warmth' and 'memories' were touching... The movie is a simple film full of gentle reminders of how special time, love, and home are... That said, I would bet that the niece-realtor (Cynthia Nixon) sent them a nice bill!

'5 FLIGHTS UP': Three Stars (Out of Five)Morgan Freeman and Diane Keaton star in this drama flick, about an elderly couple that finally decide to move; out of the New York apartment they've spent their lives together in. The film was directed by Richard Loncraine and written by Charlie Peters. It was based on the 2009 novel, 'Heroic Measures' (by Jill Ciment), and it costars Cynthia Nixon (of 'SEX AND THE CITY' fame). I found the movie to be charming, and somewhat sweet, but nothing too memorable.Freeman and Keaton play Alex and Ruth Carver; an older couple that's lived in the same apartment, in New York, all of their time together. They've finally decided to move; largely due to the fact that their apartment is five flights up, and their apartment building has no elevator. Everyone they meet, interested in their home, is rude and annoying. Alex really doesn't want to move; and the couple also has to deal with real-estate issues, and their dog's poor health. There's not a lot to the film, other than some strong character development; and some even stronger acting. Freeman and Keaton are both fantastic, in the film together, and they have beautiful chemistry. Nixon is a scene-stealer, as well (and I've never seen 'SEX AND THE CITY'). There's never a lot going on, but the film is still always interesting; thanks largely to it's veteran cast.Watch our movie review show 'MOVIE TALK' at: https://youtu.be/bOI7ZdxfHTQ
