Movie doesn't set itself up properly for non book readers and rips up the book and uses it to wipe its bottom from the perspective of the book readers. This movie is only Eragon in name and if you've never read the books its going to be quite disappointing for non kid viewers. Random omissions and changes as well as unexplained points severely hurt the movie in my opinion. At least the CGI wasn't terrible. This would be a movie a child might find fun but any adult would just be dissatisfied with.

This so called Eragon doesn't deserve that name, this chip ripoff of Aragon, . It may make me a bit of a hipster but the book was way, way better than this awful ,boring, unexciting mess of a film. To my point that movie left out what made Eragon differ from Lord of the Rings and the director just try to make a copy paste of the Middle Earth. The fun thing is that the Fellowship had a budget of 93 million, 7 millions less and with technologically inferior CGI ,but if you go and compare them you are going to see that although five years older the computer effect on the Fellowship are pitch perfect and Eragon's look awfully fake. To be honest I hoped when I first went to see it that it would be a good film adaptation because I grew up with the inheritance cycle, I was disappointed and the fact that this film is at the bottom 10 according to Rotten Tomatoes and that the author Christofer Paolini disowned it, show by themselves how bad it was. Just for the record its planned sequels were canceled ,due to the back lash, that's the level of awfulness of this flick.

I love the book, I really do, I know is not exactly a great book but is fun and it has good characters... not this movie... Is between my top 5 of worst adaptations ever and man do I hate this movie, for starters while the book had good characters and fun action to entertain people and forgive it for being too similar to Star Wars in regards of plot this movie goes full knock-off, being as similar to Star Wars as is possible and is so absurd! The Nintendo DS game is way closer to the source material and sorry but if a DS game is more faithful to a book than your movie... you did something really wrong. The acting for the most part is bad, Sienna Guillory, John Malkovich and Garrett Hedlund, man they don't even try and Ed Speelers as Eragon... terrible, just terrible, the only good performance in the entire movie is Jeremy Irons, he was perfect as Brom, as for story goes just like the movie is similar to Star Wars but again the movie goes full cheap knock-off, is as unoriginal and generic s Hollywood can get. The visual effects are amazing and Saphira looks gorgeous but visual effects don't make a good movie, I've said that many times by now and even the music was generic, Patrick Doyle, you are talented man but not even you tried with this film did you? This is simply a terrible adaptation in every way, the characters are nothing like in the books, their personalities and hell, even their physical look don't match the characters at all (Except for Brom) so in the end.... yes... what a let down I hope one day we can get a much better reboot made by a more capable studio and a more capable director with more capable actors

Brom: narrating - There was a time when the fierce and beautiful land of Alagaësia was ruled by men astride mighty dragons. To protect and serve was their mission, and for thousands of years, the people prospered. But the Riders grew arrogant, and began to fight among themselves for power. Sensing their weakness, a young Rider named Galbatorix betrayed them, and in a single bloody battle, believed he had killed them all, Riders and dragons alike. Since then, our land has been ruled by Galbatorix. He crushed all rebellion, including the freedom fighters known as the Varden. Those that survived fled to the mountains. There, they hoped for a miracle that might even their odds against the king. Our story begins one night, as Arya, an ally of the Varden, rides for her life, carrying a stone stolen from the king himself...Oh, alrighty there! Let me just say that this is how the movie starts, with Brom telling the story of Alagaësia. All good there, Jeremy Irons (who plays Brom like a charm) has a soothing voice that beckons you to sit down and listen to his stories, but what he says is not entirely by the book and if you read the book first - like I did - you might get upset. The Riders did not grew arrogant and they did not fight between themselves until Galbatorix came along and began to act high and mighty! He is the reason the Riders were killed and the dragons as well. And Arya - who is an elf - did not steal the stone stolen from the king. She was guarding it for many years. The stone was actually a dragon egg - one of the 3 in the books that still remained unhatched! - that was carried back and forward between the elves and the dwarfs - which, by the way, do not appear at all in the movie! but in the book they hold a great part of the story. But never-mind that
