An architect's desire to speak with his wife from beyond the grave, becomes an obsession with supernatural repercussions. White Noise is one of those low budget horror films that you think it's going to be truly awful and it turns out to be quite damn good and it all has to do with Michael Keaton's character who tries to contact with his dead wife but what finds is much more terrifying than what he was expecting. The acting is pretty good and Keaton's performance is really powerful and he sells with his emotion, Deborah Kara Unger who helps him threw out his quest is also good although her character and Keaton's character deserved a much better and happier ending which brings me to the flaws: The ending is what i hate about horror films in general and i didn't liked it that much also the movie is kinda slow paced which isn't a bad thing since it's all mostly based on communication with the dead so i understand why they did that. It's not the scariest movie ever made but it's definitely not one of the worst ones and it's easily better than the mediocre sequel that they released 2 years after this. Overall 'White Noise' won't win everyone and it can't win everyone but it's a much better thriller than your casual average horror film and Michael Keaton is Fantastic as always!!!

This is a tough subject matter to pull off and it helps if the Creators behind the Movie are passionate or at least literate about the obscure Paranormal Phenomenon that is being fictionalized.Gazing at a snowy TV screen like a Rorschach Test and discovering faint, barely recognizable images and listening for far away sounds that become almost decipherable, but not quite, or maybe so, is not the stuff of compelling Cinema. It is utilized here for some Suspense, but alas, it becomes too much of a not too good a thing. The Plot failing to make any coherent explanation of the Subject, and it is a Subject that requires more than cursory exposition, diverges and meanders as it adds Precognition to the Story and other extraneous stuff like manifestations and a deranged Killer, just for some Hollywood filler.Overall, it is a misguided attempt at Marketing a new twist to the Horror Movie Crowd and is an expensive exploitation with no regards, embarrassing itself with a Half-Baked product that could do no more than fill seats initially, with a clever Ad Campaign. But when those seats were empty after the first run, there was no place to hide from this poorly conceived disappointment.

I don't think I saw this in full before, I loved the sequel, as is got no onnection to this movie, i thought sequel was really good.I decided to fully checked this out. I know it was not going to better then second movie, it was not bad movie at all. I found some part of really in trusting and some scene did drag a little to long, there was good jumpy momment. But i did not all those stranger effect with black shapes or what ever they are called, it kinda took all the creepiness away from the movie. The acting the movie was really good from the cast and some people may find some scenes a little moving. I think it worth watching movie, you don't need to see this movie to see the sequel. as both movies are stand alone.. I think White Noise 2 is a much better movie then this.

I love Michael Keaton and his movies and I like this one. It starts out with a good story and suspenseful atmosphere, but crashes at the end. There are a few key questions that I think should be kept in mind when writing: Who? What? When? Where? How? and WHY? The ending of this movie misses the last question. Why did the three beings do this? Why did three (possibly four) women have to die? Why did the two men who had the EVP labs die? Why did Sarah feel what was happening to John at the end? These questions haunt me every time I finish watching this film. I like the movie, I just regret that I can't love it due to the horrible ending. If you like scary movies at least watch this once. It does have a few scares and the atmosphere and the acting (Especially Keaton's) are all worth it!
