Santa, aka Scott Calvin, is faced with double-duty: how to keep his new family happy, and how to stop Jack Frost from taking over Christmas. The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause is the 3rd and last film in The Santa Clause Trilogy and after watching it i really do wonder why so many people hated this film? It was watchable and in my opinion it had a pretty cool villain i mean Martin Short as Jack Frost was great and i really loved how Lucy made him a good guy again in the end. The cast is once again really good and i was surprised that actors such as Ann-Margret and Alan Arkin were in this movie it's not a bad thing at all i was just surprised my only big issue with this film was one small scene where it contained a bit of cgi and it looked awful other than that i had a great time watching this film it's not better than the first film or the 2nd one but i like every single one of them they are great and they are a blast especially this Holiday Season. Overall Santa Clause 3 is no masterpiece but it's not a bad movie and it should be definitely higher than just a 4.7 in my opinion because this is a franchise that knows what it is it's a Trilogy about Santa and Christmas and they are made for kids and not for professional critics!!

A real, painfully forced entry. It takes on the old alternate reality scenario. If ever a sign that your movie is pointless, the alternative reality is that sign. Jack Frost wants to steal Santa's limelight by becoming Santa. In this offering the human drama is sidelined, and is the simple getting on with the in-laws shtick. There's really not a lot to like here, as it all just feels like a quick cheap installment. The plot seems rushed and lazy. The focus of the first two was Allen's relationship with his son, which is now completely gone. There's nothing in here that excites as much as the second, nor warms the heart or makes you laugh like the first. It's a shame that a franchise which started out exploring a divorced couple and the son in the middle, as well as mental problems, is reduced to this tripe.

The first film Tim Allen did in this series, "The Santa Clause" was not a great movie by any stretch, but it was an entertaining film and one of the more imaginative and clever Christmas movies ever made. That film dealt with what it would be for a regular guy to be Santa Claus. That was a new idea! It was witty enough for adults and cutesy and fun enough for kids. Bam, the perfect mix for a "family" movie. The sequels (well OK I guess SC2 had some moments) have just been a mess. The filmmakers spend far too much time in the ridiculous North Pole, show us all the other mystical figures of legend (Mother Nature, Father Time, the Easter Bunny) and completely forget that Scott Calvin is supposed to be a regular dude that just happens to be Santa Claus. This movie is too stupid for anyone over the age of 11 and at times too filled with adult complexities for children to enjoy. The only parts that evoked a feel of the 1st film were the Canada jokes and Scott going back in time to the events of the first film and returning to Scott Calvin, corporate toy maker again. Otherwise this is a waste. Forget this film and go watch the 1st one.

I really hate when they take a perfectly good movie and ruin it with sequels! To be honest…this was one of those movies that disappointed me that way. I LOVE the first movie in this series…but the second movie they made in this series…well, sucked! When I finished watching it, I couldn't remember the magic of the first movie…I just remembered the tragic movie I had just watched that didn't follow the storyline of the original movie at all. The third movie…was just as bad. Martin Short…oh how you have fallen from fame. I loved him Innerspace…and I loved his movies he did in the late 80's early 90's…but he just can't seem to catch a break anymore. Tim Allen…maybe you should just walk away from Christmas movies for a while and focus on movies more like Wild Hogs…that was good! The magic is gone from these movies…so if you're looking for a good Christmas movie, I would suggest watching the original, and leaving the sequels alone. For daily movie reviews visit: http://kimsmoak.com/
