Along with the prior year's "A Charlie Brown Christmas", Dr. Seuss's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" has become a holiday staple for millions of viewers. It's probably a toss-up as to which of the two is the most watched television program in history, but at least for the first decade or so following it's release, it was an annual Christmas staple at our house. As an adult of course, it once again becomes prime viewing material with the passing of generations bringing new kids and grand kids into the picture. Fortunately, what starts out as a tale of the Grinch doing his best to ruin Christmas for the residents of Whoville, turns into a warm spirited story when the 'mean one' has a change of heart. Boris Karloff might not seem the best voice actor to personify the Grinch on paper but he does a masterful job in bringing the story and the character to life. If you're only memory of The Grinch is the 2000 theatrical version with Jim Carrey, (who did an excellent job by the way), you owe it to yourself to go back to the original and have some fun with it. It should be around for many Christmases to come.

Maybe not the first Christmas Holiday Classic but it is one of the best beloved Holiday Specials of all time. This special was the perfect combination of animators and storytellers. Chuck Jones who gave us the "Bugs Bunny" cartoons and Dr. Seuss who has written some of the most beloved Children's books of all time. They joined forces and gave us what is most likely one of the most iconic Christmas Special ever produced. Now I have a soft Spot for "Rudolf" and "Charlie Brown" however when it comes to pure imagination "The Grinch is #1"In case you didn't the storyThis is about the Grinch who dislikes people and Christmas. HE hates everyone and everything so much that on Christmas Eve he decides to steel everything in everyone home so "Christmas won't come". If you have not seen this in years do yourself a favor WATCH IT. You might be surprised how great this special truly is. In fact you might even enjoy it more as an adult. This was so popular as annual Holiday Special that Hollywood made a live action version in 2000. In 2018 a feature length animated film will be released.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of those Christmas specials that is hard not sit back and appreciate itFor one it is based off the classic Children's story of the same nameThe classic song "You're a Mean one Mr.Grinch" helps tell the story of The Grinch's character For the art work and the animation I have to say it is very well done and just goes to show how with talented artist you can make great art work and this is what exactly I enjoy the animation very much they really took the time to animate each scene just perfectly The music is top notch as it matches the story of the classic children's book along with as mention before the song "You're a mean one Mr.Grinch".The voice work is very strong and the narration helps a lot with the voice work What to learn about this classic film is that it is a classic masterpiece I give How the Grinch stole Christmas an 9 out of 10

The thing about Dr Seuss books were that they were short children's books. When they recently started to adapt them into films they had to be stretched from their source material and became flabby. This 1966 cartoon from Chuck Jones gives us a Grinch which is more faithful to the book and its view of the spirit of Christmas. The narration and voice of the Grinch is provided by the veteran of Horror films, Boris Karloff, he even sings. Karloff really infects this film with his voice of the Grinch. The music is a strong feature of this cartoon and although the animation now looks old fashioned its a very entertaining cartoon and a favourite in our household at Christmas time.
