I found this film late at night on Starz, about ten minutes in, and was instantly drawn in by the absolutely out-there performances of the meth addicts in the first segment. I'd never heard of this film before, and I have rarely been so taken by surprise. Pawn Shop Chronicles is exactly why people should take the time to bounce around the movie channels at four in the morning.Pawn Shop Chronicles is clearly a homage to the EC horror comics of the 1950s. There are three tightly interwoven stories here, each of which could have stood on its own as a Quentin Tarantino "Grindhouse" film. There's a large amount of violence here, as well as a pleasing platoon of naked ladies. Of the many good performances in this film, Brendan Fraser's Elvis impersonator and Matt Dillon's crazed husband are standouts. Vincent D'Onofrio and Chi McBride skillfully hold the center as the denizens of the pawn shop in the title. I also liked Ashlee Simpson as the Elvis impersonator's girlfriend and Lukas Hass as the brain-dead buddy of the meth heads.Don't miss this one. And I say that as a Cook man!

Ima give this a seven even though it wasn't a movie with Kanye West. The actors are what drew me to this movie. I wasn't expecting much, and I got just a little bit more.Sure it is derivative of Taentino...In fact before I read the reviews after I watched it I thought of Tarintino....but so what?It had a lot of jumbled up action, some sex and a lot to think about.Basically it is a tale of good and the triumph of evil.....in middle amerka....I see this as a must watch, no matter how uncomfortable you feel at the beginning...take the time...by the end...you may be happy you did.Oh and Paul...you, as usual....rocked it.

Messed up but if you imagine it from a different angle it's OK.What this really is under the skin is Tales from the Crypt Cajun Pawn stars style. Take it like that and it's just OK. Otherwise it's dumb, and it is scattered, and! it's dumb. But it is something different, and not really low budget crap it just comes off that way on purpose, to set the mood. The creepy dirty south kind of mood, and if you are in that mood, then you will be right at home here. Lastly great cast, just wish they had had more to work with. It is Mat Dillon, and not Kevin for once so that is a major plus There have just been too many Kevin's, and not enough Mat's lately. Enjoy if you are into that.

I believe I just testified to the birth of a new cult movie. The film had all the trademarks of Tarantino and it was not....WHAT AN EPIC FILM. I was stunned throughout this entire film. It's gore in places blew my mind. The competition was who can be the craziest person in the story. Matt Dillon did not disappoint. Stumbling across his missing wife's wedding band in a pawn shop, the ring he had got made with his and her insignia. This "FAITAL" discovery brings out the crazy in Matt's character. He becomes less of a humane and more of a monster as the film progresses. "If you don't like spoilers stop reading now" The climax has Matt's character locating his wife aka as #1 tied up inside a dog cage sitting in the middle of a makeshift prison/farm silo. The wife pis crazy and say shes happy there being #1, The light bulb goes off in His head and he begins to look for #2 and possibly more???? He discovers a pyramid in a shed of violated, scared naked women, each in their own dog cage stacked one above the other forming a huge pyramid of 20 naked women. The story was amazing from start to finish except one stumble near the end where a character the was clearly killed comes back in the story. It just didn't make sense but other than that, this film was a cracker!! In my top 10 of all time.
