(Flash Review)This one is a hefty step down the first two Dirty Harry movies, mainly due to drab villains; aside from the blond bimbo. After Harry saves the day while also causing thousands of dollars in damage, he is assigned desk duty. In the meantime, the drab villains concoct a plan to threaten all of San Francisco. Later and back in action, Harry is paired with a female partner who lacks any street experience and the two of them get involved; partner mismatch hijinks ensue. How will Harry manage the threat and his untested partner? Overall, this movie had less of what makes Dirty Harry so great; aside from a couple fun scenes. It borderlined on 70s police sitcom level quality. Let's see if the 4th one recaptures the brash amusement.

Released in 1976 and directed by James Fargo, "The Enforcer" stars Clint Eastwood in the eponymous role as a no-nonsense San Francisco detective, who teams-up with a novice female partner (Tyne Daly) to take down a terrorist organization made up of disgruntled Vietnam veterans.I'm a fan of all five of the Dirty Harry films, which are as follows: "Dirty Harry" (1971), "Magnum Force" (1973), "The Enforcer" (1976), "Sudden Impact" (1983) and "The Dead Pool" (1988)."Magnum Force" is my favorite, a rare case where the sequel is superior to the original. My second favorite is the nigh-surreal "Sudden Impact" while the first film is my least preferred, although I still like it. I just think the stories in the four sequels have more story drive. "Dirty Harry" seems languid and hollow by comparison, but it gets points for being the original film and establishing the series."The Enforcer" starts out with a bang on a couple of fronts with perfectly-sculptured Jocelyn Jones being a highlight, although her character is a bit of a biyatch. Unfortunately her role is rather small. The twist with this third installment is the addition of a female partner for Harry and their relationship nicely develops. You find yourself really caring for both, especially her. "The Enforcer" ups the ante with the violence and there's a cool, albeit contrived, final act on Alcatraz Island.THE FILM RUNS 96 minutes and was shot in the San Francisco Bay area. THE SCRIPT was written by Stirling Silliphant & Dean Riesner with the additions by a few others. ADDITIONAL CAST: Harry Guardino returns as Lt. Bressler while Bradford Dilford appears as the Chief and John Crawford as the mayor. DeVeren Bookwalter & Michael Cavanaugh play the lead psychos while Albert Popwell is on hand as the leader of a black gang that Harry (sort of) befriends.GRADE: B+

Clint Eastwood makes a welcome return as unorthodox SFPD Inspector Harry Callahan in The Enforcer, the third entry of the Dirty Harry series. Though a box office success in 1976, many people dismissed it as a worn out carbon copy of previous movies Dirty Harry (1971) and Magnum Force (1973). I beg to differ. I enjoyed The Enforcer, and at a compact running time of 96 minutes it is one that I still enjoy to watch from time to time.SFPD Inspector Harry Callahan (Clint Eastwood) finds himself being disciplined by Captain McKay (Bradford Dillman) after foiling a liquor store robbery by driving an unmarked police car that the robbers demanded through the store, shooting all of the robbers with his trusted .44 Magnum revolver and in the process injuring a number of hostages and causing $14,379 worth of damage to the store. Lieutenant Bressler is helpless to see Callahan transferred to personnel. At the same time, a terrorist group named the People's Revolutionary Strike Force (PRSF) led by the Bobby Maxwell (DeVeren Bookwalter) is preparing to wage war on San Francisco after they manage to steal a large number of military weapons from a warehouse and kill Callahan's partner Frank DiGiorgio (John Mitchum). Callahan is reinstated to Homicide and his partner happens to be rookie female Inspector Kate Moore (Tyne Daly) who in a coincidence Callahan interviewed during his brief time in Personnel and openly pointed out her lack of field experience. Although Callahan is none too thrilled to have Moore as his partner, Moore later proves herself to be a capable police officer and in turn Callahan admires her for her loyalty and respects her when she stands by him after he is suspended after butting heads with Captain McKay one too many times. Callahan and Moore work together to take down the terrorist group after they take the Mayor (John Crawford) hostage and hold him for ransom at Alcatraz Prison.I was delighted to see Clint Eastwood return as his iconic character "Dirty" Harry Callahan. He appears to have changed in some ways, particularly with his opinion of women in policing, but he has not yielded in his unorthodox ways of dealing with criminals much to the chagrin of his superiors. Tyne Daly stands tall and holds her own as Inspector Kate Moore, willing to prove herself in the unforgiving world of policing. Tyne Daly would later go on to star in popular crime TV series Cagney & Lacey. DeVeren Bookwalter made an effective villain as the charismatic blue eyed terrorist leader Bobby Maxwell. Also returning in the Dirty Harry series are Harry Guardino, John Mitchum and Albert Popwell (who pops up in a different role from the previous 2 movies).Third time was certainly the lucky charm and I had a good time watching Clint Eastwood return as Harry Callahan. The Enforcer was a welcome addition to the Dirty Harry series.9/10.

The enforcer once again stars Clint eastwood as inspector harry Callahan who's partner is killed in action and he is partnered with a capable but slightly timid inspector Moore played by Cagney and laceys Tyne Daly . Harry and kates assignment is to prevent a Terrorist group named the peoples revolutionary strike force who have abducted the mayor of san Francisco and unless there demands aren't met he will be killed . This movie to me is the worst of the Dirty harry pictures simply because of the quality of the villains that are just a group of locals banding together to wreck havoc in san Francisco and go on a massacre throughout the city killing anyone who gets in there way there just clichéd villains who you could find in any action picture who could do the exact thing and the main leader of the gang named bobby Maxwell looks like a right retard throughout sure he has the appearance of a right psycho but when it comes to projecting dialogue he is stiff and dull . Anyway the action scenes are average and the performances by Eastwood and Tyne are outstanding and are the only the things in the movie which are worth watching so I guess if you liked the other dirty harry pictures check it out but you really aren't missing much this is undoubtedly the worst film of the series . Rated x violence/brief full frontal nudity
