Untraceable (2008)

One of Lane's " typical detective movie. Although director wanted for viewer to be involved in solving the misteries, it have done a little bit too much so you will look at the movie without being so much tense as it could have been. Main acters have done great job in converting script into movie.

Yea, I know it's 2018 and am watching this 10 years later. Watching one agent after another get snatched by the sociopathic psycho is like watching those horror films where you are yelling at the screen "don't go in there!" or "get out now!" ***Spoiler*** I mean, from the first FBI agent who gets snagged via an online date to the second FBI agent who KNOWS she is being stalked by the killer, is on a rainy bridge at night and STILL! gets into her pitch black car and whaddya know, the psycho is waiting in the back seat with his taser gun. Baaaad, just baaaad scripting.

A really typical crime thriller starring Diane Lane as FBI agent Jennifer Marsh, who is attempting to hunt down an untraceable serial killer who posts live videos of his victims on the Internet; the more views his videos get, the more danger his victims get into.With a movie named "Untraceable," it sounds appealing and makes you think some crook is committing nefarious activities through the computer or something, or spying on people through unknown entities, making his whereabouts virtually untraceable until the very end. However, this film ultimately just turns out to be another story about a cop trying to chase down a killer, with some action and a cat-and-mouse game to boot, but with no tension built-up and with cheesy acting. ***spoiler ahead*** And, posting live videos of victims on the Internet and having them get into deeper trouble from the more views it gets? It makes you lose hope for humanity, thinking that people would view live victims on the internet, knowing that it would be detrimental to the victims' health, just for the fun of it. Makes you wonder who these computer-savvied young punks are.The ending is abrupt, not really action-packed or adrenaline-pumping. It's just a really, really typical action thriller.Grade D-

First of all, entertaining movie, says a lot about what internet is these days. The only pricking flaw I found in the movie was that the FBI could have had the domain i.e "killwithme.com" blocked by the ISP, few got brains to use a proxy which also would not have worked since the murderer was blocking all non-local IPs. This could have easily resolved the problem, since no views, no deaths.Rest, the movie was entertaining showing how everyone is a potential criminal and how the internet is the place where everyone releases the demon inside. A little more character development for the murderer would have made this movie better, couldn't quite get a hold of the murderer's ideology.
