The Cave (2005)

RELEASED IN 2005 and directed by Bruce Hunt, "The Cave" details events when a team of cave divers led by brothers Jack (Cole Hauser) and Tyler (Eddie Cibrian) are commissioned to explore a cave network in the Carpathian Mountains. Unfortunately an explosion cuts off their exit and traps them in the vast network. As if finding a way out isn't difficult enough, they also have to deal with strange vicious creatures living there.While "The Cave" isn't anywhere near as good "Alien" (1979) or "Aliens" (1986), it's competent enough (and should be with its whopping $30 million budget) and similar to those films, except taking place in the alien world of a cave network rather than a vessel in space or an alien planet. Speaking of the cave network, there are some awe-inspiring cave locations and sets.Except for the opening and close, the entire movie takes place in the caverns. The creatures are an effective meshing of the Xenomorph XX121 in the Alien franchise and the creeper from the Jeepers Creeper films.I didn't find the characters very engaging, but the story creates some decent suspense around the half hour mark. Although it isn't sustained, things perk up again in a thrilling sequence involving winsome Piper Perabo's character and her clash with a monster while climbing. This gripping episode is the main reason I grade the movie as high as I do. Lena Headey is the only other female in the cast.THE FILM RUNS 97 minutes and was shot in Romania (MediaPro Studios, Bucharest, as well as Zarnesti & Transylvania) and Mexico (Yucatan & Hidden Worlds Cenote Park, Quintana Roo). I didn't like how shaky and fast the editing was. I thought that it hid too much and made it hard to tell what was going on. The shakiness was distracting. Other than that I guess that it was fine. There was nothing too exciting to look at. The sound fields were creative and really well produced. I loved the use of the rear channels. Absolutely fantastic sound! This was just like Alien (1979) in a cave but without the suspense and awesomeness. I had no care for the characters or what was unfolding. It was made for teenagers and consequentially the horror is non-existent in what should be a horror movie. It was more like an action movie but without all the cool guns and car chases and helicopters and stuff. Rather dull story and unoriginal shenanigans make this a very forgettable piece.

If there is a cave underwater how can there be no water in the cave, water will enter the cave from anywhere and fill it with water. There can no workable dry ground level underwater. Am I right? Can the Movie director explain his logic when the cast a seated and discussing comfortably on many occasions.

This movie is a great movie has a nice plot and twists. This movie kept me and my friends on edge and the characters in this movies are also very appealing to their audience. The characters really make a connection with the audience to the extent that one feels their struggles and triumphs. The movie also has some good action in it. The cast is also very attractive which makes the already awesome movie even more legendary in my opinion and also according to my friends and family too. I also find it fascinating how scientist have found creatures before maybe not as big just tiny goes to prove that there just might be some unknown creatures out there... OVERALL GREAT MOVIE!!! Great for movie night with friends and loved ones (: I really really really recommend this movie to everyone that wanted to watch a movie full of action and suspense and will surely keep you on edge while the appealing cast makes you feel for them and want them to triumph the dangers of the cave..
