The people who are saying this movie is not good clearly don't know anything about films.Dil Dhhadakne do is one of my favourite films. It is inspiring, beautiful, funny and just a full package. The film has a soul and is just a masterpiece from the director Zoya Akhtar.

The movie is quite different and the story has a theme - unlike most recent comedies. Except for the end, it is very well executed. The end reverts to filmy craziness but oh well. Most starts have delivered compelling performances. I was pleasantly surprised by a mature and measured performance from Ranveer Singh who otherwise does action hero roles. Farhan Akhtar looks too old (with wrinkles around his eyes) to play a role in Ranveer-Priyanka generation. He looks more like Priyanka's "chacha" than a boy-friend. But hey, he is the director's brother!Note for the PC-wary: Zoya Akhtar seems to have used this as an opportunity for a lot of male bashing. Women are largely shown as poor victims or fighters against patriarchy with an added dash of Hindu-Muslim match up. Typical liberal drivel that infects bollywood "liberally".

Zoya Akhtar's Dil Dhadkane Do is a beautiful film, with amazing performances and very good direction. The whole story is narrated by a dog, Pluto Mehra, and is about a troubled urban family and their problems. Anil Kapoor in his role as a strict father is very good, supported by Shefali Shah. Ranveer SIngh and Priyanka Chopra steals the show, Farhan Akhtar and Anushka Sharma also did their parts very well. The story and screenplay are good and the film is perfectly paced. Yes it is 3 hour long but I don't remember any scene which I felt inappropriate except those terrible dance sequences.I particularly liked the cinematography and editing of the film, which are very exceptional and praiseworthy. However, the film fails to make an overall impact. Yes the ending is apt but it is not satisfying. I just expected a suitable, meaningful ending if not philosophical but they just ended in the same clichéd bollywood style which I think killed the soul of the film.Special mention : The narration and the dialogue are exceptionally good. Superb Writing.
