A beer or two while watching this film will help. There's a few good laughs, if somewhat misogynistic, and there's nothing in the script that will strain your brain.Could be the writer was going through a break-up at the time which might explain why the women the characters live with are portrayed as unlikable and shrewish. The man/woman divide is destined to remain as wide as it ever was with this addition to cinematic fame.Doghouse is very male, very British, very gory and very funny - in places. It does tend to drag on near the end. Really could have benefited from tighter camera work, more variety and shorter run- time. Almost felt like they had to add a few minutes here and there to pad it out. Slightly overused the sets too, maybe a budget issue.Comparisons to Shaun of the Dead are unworthy. You should choose SOTD over this one, given the choice.I give it a 6 which to me means I found it slightly better than merely watchable.

It carefully follows all the rules for this class of horror movie and it's scary, gory and it made me laugh out loud a lot, hence the score. Some people have criticised the ending because the men "haven't learned anything", but they have. After a brief moment of control they realise that they don't even care about that any more, they just want to get away from the crazy women. And most lads' nights end with someone unable to walk being pushed by the rest in a supermarket trolly.I think its nearly as good as Shaun Of The Dead, but whereas that film was ultimately feel-good this one is harsher, misogynistic and leaves a bitter after-taste, which makes it more interesting. Lads will love it. Feminists will hate it. Do not watch it with your other half.P.S. Danny Dyer's best film. Make of that what you will.

From the outset of the first 30 seconds of the title screen introducing the characters you can see what this film will be about. Low budget, overly British, chav'y, misogynistic. It lacks any charm, and whilst the idea for the story is interesting, it's executed in a terrible way. The film gets into the 'action' almost too soon, I'd have enjoyed more suspense and build up (within the first 10 minutes the protagonists know whats happening and are deeply involved). The setting is alright, but could have been bigger, and you feel the actors are basically just playing themselves. Danny Dyer in particular plays a very horrible version of himself. With only a couple of likable characters in the film you find yourself disillusioned from their troubles and any investment in the story is one of "what caused this to happen", which is shortly lived.Again a very interesting story idea, but very poorly executed. If you have to watch this, do not watch this with a loved one or any female in the room, or else you'll end up in the Doghouse!

Think Shaun of the Dead with extra gore combined with a monster battle of the sexes and you have Doghouse. Some might say its too much on its battle of the sexes approach but in truth its a grab a beer, sit back and enjoy type of a movie. It never set out to be Romero. It has the gore to please the gore hounds amongst us plus more than delivers on the laughs to keep us entertained. This combined with well known Brit actors delivers a bit of quality real world humour to the film. Basically a cut above that normally expected from such a film. Trust me on this one sit back laugh and enjoy this often sadly over looked zombie laugh fest from a well respected up and coming director. Did I mention it also stars Danny Dyer who always delivers on laughs. Watch out for a new insight on how to deal with a zombie with a walking frame, priceless.
