Jack Conrad is "purchased" by a wealthy television producer and taken to a desolate island where he must fight to the death against nine other condemned killers from all corners of the world, with freedom going to the sole survivor. The Condemned is far from being one of WWE's best films but it's definitely not their worst one either. Steve Austin does a pretty good job with what he has and the same goes for Vinnie Jones. The Condemned is action packed and a whole lot of fun and a pretty much entertaining action flick to rent and watch. (7.0/10)

The Condemned (2007): Dir: Scott Wiper / Cast: Steve Austin, Vinnie Jones, Robert Mammone, Madeleine West, Emilia Burns: Typical action film about those weighted down by sin. Simple plot has ten death row convicts placed on an island with explosives attached to their ankles. The key to survival is to kill until one is left alive to claim freedom. Broadcast via Internet by a big T.V. tycoon. Basically one violent showdown after another until reaching the obvious conclusion. Director Scott Wiper does an innovative job. Wrestler Steve Austin does exactly as expected and that is play a wrestler in prison. His first scene has him tested by beating the snot out of several guys before being chosen for this nitwit scheme. He will continue to fight as if in a WWE title tournament except this junk will reward him with nothing but loads of negative reviews. Vinnie Jones as a sadistic convict will be the ultimate boring showdown that we can predict before Austin is placed on location. Supporting roles are just targets for brutality including the idiot tycoon who will obviously get his in the end. The criminals are your standard hard faced brain dead zombies who are there to die for nothing. This is a pathetic excuse to showcase scene after scene of mindless violence and brutality. The film trades a potential message of media violence for the very thing it supposedly condemned. Score: 3 / 10

This was my movie after i watched the movie "The Tournament"..Though the concept seems to be relative, condemned has a whole new prospect of story...The idea of dropping the criminals in the island and make them to fight for their lives has worked out wonderfully....The acting of Steve is not bad and in my opinion he would have done better...The action scenes are well carried out throughout the movie and action lovers will love it for sure...Overall, a good movie worth a watch.... :)

Simply put - if you like action films you'll enjoy The Condemned. Following along similar lines of Battle Royal and the newly released The Hunger Games, a group of international death row inmates are sent to an island to fight to the death in order to win their freedom - with the whole thing broadcast live on the internet. As highly unbelievable as this situation may seem, the moral repercussion are actually adequately addressed. The illegal show gains a mass following but not without attracting the attention of certain international agencies.I'm not a huge fan of Steve Austin or WWE wrestling and so at first I was a bit sceptical about a WWE production with the lead role being given to a pro wrestler. But despite this he performs his role well, and the acting is of a pretty good standard throughout. The fight scenes are gritty and believable, and the sub-plot back story doesn't interfere too much with the action. This is switch-your-brain-off entertainment. Enjoy it for what is is. 7/10
