This is a punk movie directed by Ulf Malmros. It starts at the end and loops around in fits and starts till you get all the details filled in.Starring Tuva Novotny in the title roll and Jonas Rimeika as her brother Erik, this Swedish film takes place in a small town where the movie theater shows films that have already come out on VHS. Erik's descriptions of small-town life are funny because they're all true.I won't discuss the plot because it gives things away. But the pleasure in this movie is in the details. The soundtrack reminds me of "Repo Man," and the details of hick town life ring absolutely true. It's basically a mash-up of "Repo Man" where things happen to punk background music and generic heroin -- er, beer -- and "Pulp Fiction" where things happen out of sequence, and "Flanders" (directed by Bruno Dumont) where things happen in a really depressing corner of the world. But "Slim Susie" is funny. I just sat there laughing as Erik told his disjointed story, waiting as all the pieces fell gradually into place.

I stopped watching "Slim Susie" after about 10 minutes in order to get my boyfriend to watch it with me. The first 10 minutes I was laughing continuously and couldn't stop. I have heard about "Slim Susie", but the last few years of Swedish comedy has been kind of boring. The kind of movies where you almost fall asleep because they are all the same and have similar endings, but "Slim Susie" is not. Quite many of the actors are new faces to me. But in this case I think that was more positive than negative. I can't think of a better movie to watch when it's raining outside and you need some fun. This is it, you have found the right movie! Really, I have not seen anything this funny since 1980s. And the best is that Bengt Alsterlind from (Hajk) has a part in "Slim Susie". This movie really shows the Swedish small town humor and when the acting seems bad, remember: I think it was meant that way. I am happy to say that "Slim Susie" is now among my DVD-collection!

I dont know a shred of Swedish but it turns out one doesnt need to know it to enjoy the movie. Although the plot got completely clear to me after the reviews I read here, but who cares as long the movie is funny (really funny, I mean) and all the scenes live out.All the actors did a great job, (I cant comment on dialogues :-( but songs from Polsa were hilarious and so was the police officer. There is pornography and drugs involved, but to make the scenes more abruptly funny, For ex, when Polsa is introduced first. What I did found out when I watched the movie was that Sussie was murdered and who killed her was revealed in the end. Lot of funny incidents in between. I will buy this movie's DVD.

One of very few Swedish comedies that I really enjoyed. Instead of (like most Swedish comedies) putting someone through purely embarrassing moments and believing that everyone finds that funny, this movie relies on surprising twists and turns and a witty funny dialogue. In addition a mystery is resolved. Erik returns home when he finds out that his sister Sussie is missing. In his search for her more and more childhood friends get involved in this story. As we get to see the end first, the story then jumps back and forth in time to slowly resolve the plot. This enables the movie to take very surprising and funny twists. As mentioned, a great dialogue, extra credit to whoever wrote that and to whoever created the different characters. Good acting, funny plot. Doesn't get very much better.8/10
