I have without a doubt never ever seen a movie in which acting, filming, sound, screenplay and script are so completely worthless. It seems like re-enactment actors filmed each other with their mobile phones during a weekend away on a paintball range and then voiced it over, leaving the montage to a 10-year old. Explosions and shooting scenes seem to be edited in using windows moviemaker. All aircraft and vehicles are laughable. None of the actors should ever be allowed to star in anything but a STD-awareness commercial. Do you know Adult Swim's Special Agent Decker series? This is seems to be made following the same concept, except it's not even the least bit funny.I will not go into the political discussion about the movie, it's too bad at the surface to look for anything less than a scratch's depth below it.
I've watched most English speaking+ WW2 movies and divide them into 4 ages: flag waiving pro war, dippy hippy bad soldier, let me show you my special effects "gag modern" and war as "I" see it modern. This latest class can get stupidly inaccurate in its own personal way but this is a very good movie. The military hardware is reasonable in representation. The personal styles for period accuracy is very lacking but not ridicules. Battle landscape has enough back ground action in sometimes overgrown settings. That said; it has a great story of shared guilt although I find it hard to believe so few knew of the camp system. It starts out that this is not a political story and yet I feel that is exactly what it is. This is the regular people caught up in bad politics of the day. Most love their people and their countries but bad politics is a universal problem throughout history. Evil politicians causing major problems is as alive today as it was back then.
I vote this 10 because of the fake negative reviewers that have only been created to mark this film down. Few if any of these reviews talk about the movie itself, they just tell you that it's propaganda and that you should not watch it which is precisely the reason why you should. It's very low budget, yes, but the story seems to be built up from real letters written by real soldiers which gives you an idea of these people's beliefs and worldview and perhaps provides some insight into how they got so caught up in the idea that the Nazis presented at that time and how that worldview effected their flight or fight responses on the battlefield. It also expresses their doubts about what they where fighting for and their journey from idealism to cynicism. It's a breath of fresh air and goes some way to redraw a balance since as we know history is written by the winners and we rarely hear the other side of the story.
Netflix should be responsible for spreading fascist propaganda. It is a shame that Netfix dares showing a movie that glorifies SS murderers! Acting is terrible. Storyline - boring. Dialogs - artificial. Scenenery - repetitive. This poorly directed, low budget movie is solely created to show that SS murderers were honest , innocent soldiers.Shame on you! Why FBI did not stop its distribution ?
