This is the story of 1970s African-American action legend Black Dynamite. The Man killed his brother, pumped heroin into local orphanages, and flooded the ghetto with adulterated malt liquor. Black Dynamite was the one hero willing to fight The Man all the way from the blood-soaked city streets to the hallowed halls of the Honky House.

I stumbled upon "Black Dynamite" earlier this month, glanced at the DVD cover and decided to skip on it. Why? Well, I didn't read the synopsis, nor did I know who starred in the movie, and I can't really claim to be much fan of the black exploitation movies from the 70s. I assumed it was one such movie, so I put it back. Then about a week later, a friend recommended it warmly and informed me that it was a spoof. So I went back and picked up a copy of the DVD. I had little expectations to the movie still. But I decided to sit down and give it a chance, nonetheless. It turned out that "Black Dynamite" was actually an amazingly good movie, because it handled the spoofing of the black exploitation movies in a very entertaining way, where it was sort of serious but at the same time making fun of even itself. The story was good, and pretty much captured the spirit of the 1970s black exploitation movies, for better or worse. I mean, everything here just dripped with everything that wrapped up the 1970s black exploitation movies; from the clothing, the props, the cutting and editing of the movie, the dialogue, the questionable performances by the actors, and so forth and so forth. That really was the core essential of the movie, and it was done so wonderfully well."Black Dynamite" is actually entertaining in many ways, and I must admit that I am glad that I went back to give the movie a chance, because it really surprised me in every way.The cast that performed in "Black Dynamite" was quite good and they had some very interesting names, even for some of the smaller roles, such as wonderful cameos. And I was more than genuinely surprised with seeing Michael Jai White in the lead role, but he did this phenomenally well, and this really is a great achievement in his belt of movie performances. If you haven't already seen "Black Dynamite", then I can strongly suggest that you take the time to do so, should you be given the chance. I was genuinely entertained throughout the entire course of the movie.

This movie is perfect for what it is, and I honestly can't image a better movie of this genre. This is basically meant to be enjoyed as both a 70's action movie and as a parody of 70's action movies. I say this because it does great at both. I am pretty cold hearted and it still managed to make me laugh when I was by myself, I am sure watching this with a friends and a few drinks will be some of the most fun you can have watching a movie. The reason it it is not a 10/10 for me is the same reason why people don't make 70's-like movies anymore, they are just action scenes stringed together by sub-par stories. In this case it works perfectly for the story not to make sense because its funny, and my favorite scenes are those parts that normal 70's movies would normally do terribly. Unfortunately I can really only see it as a better 70's movie. I was torn between giving this a 7 or an 8, and ultimately I gave it an 8 because of the diner scene and boobs.

Black Dynamite is the most fun I've had with a film in a very long time! A spoof made up of genius comedic writing and acting.Whilst some context is needed going into the film, once you understand the layers and the intentions you can find so many laughs in a short run-time. The film within a film adds even more comedy, a few technical errors on top of the already hilarious camera work. As well as the on the nose soundtrack.A very interesting style of comedy and film making, I recommend this one to anyone who wants a good laugh. I could definitely dig it.

Nowadays, an American parody is almost always something that references other movies, but in the end is just a bad movie with lots of sex jokes. Black Dynamite is one of those rare films that can honour the things it is parodying and still be funny as hell: a true parody. That doesn't mean I share some of the enthusiasm of other reviewers here. It is hard at times to make the difference between the film and the movies it is parodying. Is it a parody or just a blackspoitation movie made in the 21st century? Occasional caricaturizations of the characters keep the viewer amused, but let's face it, it is hard to make a blackspoitation film not funny, anyway.Bottom line: Jax is sticking it to the man and, leaving dubious homosexual catchphrases aside, it is a funny parody of the 70's films with muscular black fighters and silly kung-fu. However, if you are too young to know what I am talking about, this film might not seem that amusing. It's a matter of taste, like always, but at least it is a film that sticks to the principles of making a parody.
