A romanced story of Attila the Hun, from when he lost his parents in childhood until his death. Attila is disclosed as a great leader, strategist and lover and the movie shows his respect to the great Roman strategist Flavius Aetius, his loves and passions, the gossips, intrigues and betrayals in Rome, all of these feelings evolved by magic and mysticism. Attila benefits from terrific perfomances by both Gerard Butler as Attila and Powers Booth as Aetius but also a nice set of storytelling, love, war and betrayal that definitely overcomes some flaws. (8/10)

The writer of this movie obviously was unfamiliar with the true history of The Huns. Possibly he wrote it giving Attila the Hun's life a similarity to the King Arthur story. Maybe even with a twist of Harry Potter. It is terrible, and the writer should be ashamed. The dialogue stinks. In my opinion, this movie is awful. It is a "B" movie, which is mostly historically inaccurate. I do not recommended it as an informative movie, or teaching aid. Anyone not knowing Attila or The Huns will have the wrong idea about him/them after watching this movie. This movie is also a great discredit to the legacy of The Huns as well as any descendants of The Huns. I should hope someday, someone comes out with an modern epic movie of Attila the Hun, and that it is accurate and far better than this lame movie.

One great movie, did not get as much attention as Troy, but Attila was one of the most power leaders at the time. The movie was entertaining and I don't care if it wasn't historical or not. It was real sad, real fights, real sexy and a great story. It is a little long (2.5+ hrs.) and some people might find this movie to be a little boring since some parts are slow. Just talking and so on, but when the fighting starts it's exciting. I rate it 10/10 since it's one of the best Greek/Roman movies I've seen in years. There are only 2 known Hollywood stars in this movie and Tim Curry being the biggest. Remember the funny guy playing in Home Alone 2 and 3 Musketeers? Otherwise all other characters are not that big.

Admittedly, this movie may not be accurate, however it did encourage me to look up the actual history..Meanwhile, it was my first introduction to the actor Gerry Butler, for which I am very thankful..I look forward to watching other movies he makes..This movie as well as the subsequent ones, ie Phantom of the Opera, Timeline, Dear Frankie, even Dracula 2000, I think show how much this guy puts into his roles.. I feel he shows real depth to whatever character he portrays- heh- he made me sympathetic to Attila the Hun! Actually I read somewhere that they still celebrate Attila's Birthday in Hungary.. If one puts the story in a historical perspective I believe one could make an argument that our History might have been different if he had prevailed.. The Roman Catholic influence was not all roses..
