Zach Braff and Jason Bateman in one movie, hell yeah! How can it not be funny? Answer: by getting poor writers that have no idea of what makes these actors great. I guess "Fast Track" technically is a comedy, but it's just one without punchlines, funny one-liners or well, wit of any kind really. There's a lot of drama in there, there's a lot of romance, there's a lot of Amanda Peet talking about poo, but somewhere along the line they stopped bothering to put in actual laughs. There are indeed some attempts at humor in this movie, but it's the kind of situational drivel you already sigh at when it comes up in sitcoms, let alone in feature films. The actors save what there is to save, but they can't exactly make it laugh-out-loud funny with this material. A disappointment.

Jesse Peretz's 'Fast Track' is a hilarious comedy. Most of the humour is situational and there are some funny lines but it is mainly the cast that makes it work. It boasts of an ensemble of comedic talents that include Zach Braff as a man of honour, Amanda Peet as the new stay at home mom, Jason Bateman as the evil ex, Charles Grodin as the well-intentioned dad, Mia Farrow as the squeaky mom, Amy Poehler as the helpful colleague, Amy Adams as the annoying ex-classmate and Paul Rudd as the jerk of a boss. It was great to see these people work together. Who could ask for a better cast? However, many of these talented actors, especially Poehler, Adams and Farrow, have been criminally underused. 'Fast Track' belongs to Braff, Bateman and Peet. Zach Braff and Jason Bateman's on screen banter produces some of the best laugh out loud moment that makes Stiller and De Niro (in 'Meet the Parents') look stale. Amanda Peet gives Sofia a strong identity that makes her much more than the typical stay-at-home mom on the verge of becoming a desperate housewife. In terms of execution, 'Fast Track' isn't bad but I thought the story could have been a little better developed. The film would have ended up being an-average-at-best-movie if it weren't for the cast.

i watched this because i reckon Zach Braff is awesome and i know Jason Bateman is a funny man. well i watched this and was disappointed.i'll be honest most disappointed probably by Zach Braff. he was too similar to his character J.D from Scrubs. and he wasn't particularly funny when he was meant to be doing something funny.Jason Bateman was good in the movie but i found i got really annoyed at his character because he's such an a**hole.which wasn't actually something negative.there are just quite too many weird things like the job that Tom (Zach Braff) takes in the movie. i just got a feeling maybe they tried a little too much to be funny, i don't know, thats just my impression. quite disappointing.

The Ex is the worst film I have seen in a long time. The element which most bothered me from this movie is that three brilliant actors (Zach Braff,Jason Bateman and the great Amanda Peet) were criminally wasted in a stupid and tedious "comedy".I still do not understand how this movie got the green-light.This is one of the most unfunny comedies I have EVER seen. This movie is so bad that it does not deserve a long analysis.I just have to say it's an enormously tedious and stupid comedy. This piece of repulsive crap should immediately be destroyed. My recommendation would be this : do not even steal this movie. You have been warned.
