Touted as the most costly venture of Hindi Film Industry, "Blue" releases on this Diwali weekend to make the most of the Festival season. With tremendous hype in the air, fresh visuals on the screen and never before underwater action for the viewers, the movie had all the ingredients of becoming a blockbuster before its release. But now after going through the watery experience of 2 hours in the theater, I can only think about the huge amount of money spent on such a weak and baseless project. It really doesn't feel nice to write negative reviews about a project in which a lot is on stake in monetary terms. But what can be done, if the movie itself doesn't provide you anything positive or worth praising to rave about. Though, it starts off quite well with a brilliantly shot sequence where Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt drive out a Shark from their underwater net. But after that, the movie goes on sliding on a never ending downwards slope sinking towards an unknown destination.Revolving around a conspiracy to reach a hidden underwater treasure, "Blue" has a completely uninteresting first half, with nothing appealing for the viewer related to its main theme. In fact if you simply skip it off and start watching the movie after its intermission, then you miss nothing but only a few chase sequences and two hot babes, Katrina and Lara Dutta. Apart from this, the main plot of the movie actually unfolds after the interval, when the three men are set to go for the treasure hunt. So, it all comes down to the last 30 minutes of the flick, where you desperately start waiting for something very exciting to happen related to the hidden wealth and bloody sharks. But unfortunately or rather very irresponsibly nothing happens even in the concluding moments of the movie and its climax simply leaves you confused and annoyed. There is no excitement felt as the treasure is found, there are no bloody games played with the sharks as shouted in the promotional campaign and there is not a single thrilling moment in this so called never before underwater thriller. Yes, there are breathtaking undersea shots worth watching and there are well conceived high quality actions sequences too, but…… Where is the content to win over the viewers? Where is the famous charming spell of Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt? Where are the Sharks, heavily promoted in the T.V. campaigns? Where is the excitement which should be there in a treasure hunt movie?Besides this, the Kylie Minogue song is clearly added deliberately, which though sounds nice to the ears but has got nothing extraordinary to offer. All the chase sequences featuring Zayed Khan before and after the intermission are only there to add more glamour and gloss to the project. And as always the two gorgeous ladies feature in the movie as there can never be a Hindi Film without any hot heroines to set the screen on fire.Talking about its performances, there is neither the actual Sanjay Dutt in the movie nor the real Akshay Kumar. In other words you can only find some glimpses of their famous charisma on the screen in few particular scenes here & there. And the most annoying dialogues are where Akshay addresses Sanjay Dutt as "Seth Ji". I really couldn't find anything interesting or entertaining in this unique way of calling him "Seth Ji". May be the writers found it fresh & new, but this was earlier used by Mallika Sherawat in one of her movies too. On the other hand, Zayed Khan, surprisingly shines in his side role and Lara Dutta simply sizzles in her revealing outfits. Lara is undoubtedly looking more glamorous and different than any of her earlier releases. Both Katrina Kaif (in special appearance) and Rahul Dev have done justice to their short and usual roles.Musically, A. R. Rahman comes out with a few melodious numbers in the soundtrack, out of which "Chiggy Wiggy" has been already made famous by an extensive promotional strategy. Otherwise I think with Kylie Minogue being there for him, Rahman could have belted out something more exciting & sensational for her. Moreover, it was sad to see the finest song of the movie, "Fiqrana" being played as a music video along with the end credits. In short the best part of the movie is its Cinematography and that's it. The film simply fails to impress in any other department completely and only one man gets all the blame and he is the debutant director Anthony D'Souza. With such enormous amount of resources available at his disposal he should have given more stress on the story, script and content of the movie to ensure its box office success. But ignoring these essential elements of cinema, he focuses more on the look and feel of the project, which has never been the Box-Office success mantra ever. He surely has got the talent to deliver and may come up with a winner next time, but with "Blue" he can only expect the least.

I had a lot of expectations from this Movie and all it delivered was dissatisfaction and pain. It was a weak plot and very predictable. To add to this, the dialogue delivery and on screen presence was pathetic. Zayed Khan should be looking for some other options as acting is not an area where he can excel. Moreover, Katrina Kaif also looked fake and was not able to do her best. I have seen her performing better in some other movies. Yes, the locations are good, but its the plot and the acting that drags the movie to a new low. With the amount of money spent on this movie, it would have been better to get in some more substance rather than the effects. Sanjay Dutt is not at his best and disappoints as well. The only highlight of this movie is some SKIN show by Lara Dutta but that cannot make up for the bad experience. She has given steamy scenes in a lot of movies but this ain't the best. It would have been better if it was an exact copy of Into The Blue, it was better and the plot was good. Movie is good in parts but fails as a whole package. Maybe it was the expectation and the hype, however, it was a very lame movie with nothing new except the underwater sequence. If you have nothing else to do and want to kill your time, you may go and watch this movie. Not recommended for people who have high expectations.

This movie to my surprise shocked me MENTALLY, I once had a question can someone beat "Chandini Chowk to China" in the Most over rated yet a disaster films list. But this one did. I had to sit through the entire plot just to finish off my popcorn and a 250ml soda. Much to my disappointment was the Star Studded cast of the film, Kylie Minogue, Sanjay Dutt, not to forget Akshay Kumar....I wasn't expecting a lot but then again I wasn't expecting something very much horrible. but something good to talk about the film is about the quality of the Vfx works and cinematography. The rest was a copy of the movie Torque(in stunts), twists were not at all worthy to name them so. And the Katrina - Akshay Pair magic didn't work its charm this time. Total waste of my 2 odd hours, suggestion is that better not give a damn about the movie.

They had at least some plot that a Manmohan Desai or Subhash Ghai would have shot into a catchy movie but, instead of shooting it, they spoke it in last 10 minutes of the film. So you get the story as Sanjay Dutt speaks about his dad, Akshay speaks about his dad, Gulshan speaks about his partnership with Akshay, and you wonder that they couldn't have run out of money (the costliest film), they didn't run out of time (less than 2 hours. When interval happens at 1 hour, I hear several gasps of arey, interval ho bhi gaya), they couldn't have date problems as none of the personalities is really busy, they why the heck they didn't shoot it.So, it is about a treasure hunt. If you think you might be able to remember that Titanic itself was about a treasure hunt actually, the blue diamond, but you have almost forgotten that part is the ultimate tribute to Cameroon that this treasure chase was running just as a thin line in background while one of the most finely told love story unfolded on the screen.Kat being wifey of Akshay brought a lot of laughs from the audience, as if they had stopped counting the plot goof-ups, but we do wonder why at all Katrina accepted to do this movie for such a wafer thin role. Zayed knows she is working for Gulshan, She already knew that Zayed is going to Bahamas, still he puts all blond jokes to shame by dropping a voice message to her cell telling her that he is in Bahamas, for Gulshan to hear, and even then feels safe hiding there and showing surprise when gulshan reaches there.Bahamas is near Mexico and Cuba, how does a ship coming from UK to India reach their is the biggest unrevealed mystery of the film.Akshay's character portrayal is utterly confused. he was a good friend to begin with, though you wonder how can someone just spend his entire life befriending Sanjay Dutt just for the treasure, while womenising greedily, but leaving him at being the real manipulator, the real villain would still have been consistent and had brought some twist, but then he comes out to be the grandson of the captain and gives entire treasure to government to clear family name and even puts the 20% award legally received from government to Sanjay Dutt. What the heck is happening. It also didn't become clear why Gulshan breaks to tell Sanjay Zayed about the secret partnership he was having with Akshay. And the allegation that Akshay wanted to keep entire treasure for himself also didn't stick as Askhay didn't want that money at all.Further, if Akshay had just told Sanjay in the very beginning that he wanted to find the treasure and give it to the government to clear family name, there is good possibility that Sanjay would have agreed to do so. Then the movie needn't have to be made. And when Gulshan tells it, Sanjay just believes him forgetting his old friendship with Akshay. It seems so odd. When Akshay supposedly dies in the see, they didn't even search for his body, nor for his bike under the sea, nor even inquire about what happens to Akshay's business and property, after all, Sanjay was an employee of Akshay. And why Akshay had to remain hidden from them for 3 months at the end has been provided no reason. And After Gulshan got killed and Akshay supposedly died, why didn't Sanjay and Zayed and Lara try to bring the treasure for themselves. Sanjay and Zayed were unemployed now and Lara needed some money, or they themselves could have given the treasure to the government. Why Sanjay Dutt had not provided the treasure details to the government all his life has also not been told.If entire thing was just a make believe to trap Zayed to force Sanjay to reveal the treasure, then it looks a sickening waste that so many real guys get killed in bike chase in New York and Bahamas chasing Zayed and so many vehicles got destroyed and lives of the people in those vehicles too.Akshay and Sanjay look more like fathers to Lara, Katrina and Kylie, thus the body display scenes of ladies didn't really fume. Zayed was coolly young but it is surprising that with a spoilt single brat life he was supposed to be living, how come he gets so much captivated by Katrina (She looks elder and quite fatty to Zayed, sorry Kat fans) in 12 hours to behave like being in love. And then he was left without any partner in the visual treats of Bahamas. Why did they make Akshay flirt with Kylie when they could have made Kylie a mate for Zayed till the end of the movie. The songs didn't add to the film, but they didn't hinder the film either. Songs go unnoticed. Yaar Mila Tha is not there. I couldn't figure where at all it could have been put. The entire lyrics, the feel of the songs, the situation, doesn't fit on any character at all in the film. Film didn't have any emotion-intensive scenes at all, so no specific song was really needed for it. The great emotions that ARR had so laboriously put in some songs really served no purpose for the film.Chiggy Wiggy happens just like that, it deserved a big build up, but no. They just visit any hotel, just spot one of so many a girls who happens to be Kylie, and the dance starts, and then Kylie disappears from the film. Such treatment will scare away all other foreign celebrities from bollywood. V S Rawat
