Usually I like Steve Coogan's work but this time round I am left disappointed with a slight feeling of being conned that I assumed I was watching a comedy. It did have some mildly titillating moments based around several character impersonations but these were generally overcooked (and over repeated) to the point that it presented itself as 'desperate for idea's'. I am of the understanding that most of this movie was ad-libbed with a loose plot of the road trip and food review(for a magazine) but to be honest, it showed. At times it was a painful experience but mostly just plain old boring with the occasional moment of mild humor. You would have to be a hardcore Coogan or Brydon fan to love this film, if not then stay well clear. I never got to the end, just could not see the point. To sum this movie up in one word - bland.

I realize I am supposed to be in awe of the protagonists' witty impressions. The problem is I just didn't find them funny or even that good. And I kept expecting there to be some kind of relevant plot or point but there was none to be found. I am normally a fan of all things British but this film left me feeling like had wasted time. The only redeeming value for this film was the beautiful countryside. The cinematography was quite nice. One did get the "feel" of rural England. Foodies will perhaps vicariously enjoy the indulgent dishes served. Watch if you want to see two guys who are both annoying go at each other. Watch if a plot or a point is not important to you.

This film was utterly uninteresting. Spoiler: 2 guys bullshitting for 2 hours. God, it was just so boring....Really the guys just sit and talk in the car. then they sit and talk in a restaurant. Their banter is mostly annoying. I signed up for an account just to try to counteract the 7.1 rating here on IMDb...i usually trust the ratings and a 7 should usually be a decent film. This was just Garbage. I would put it on par with Adam Sandler's "Overboard" or Whoopi Goldberg's "The Telephone"...both movies designed to waste your time and cash in on an actor's celebrity. I want my 2 hours back. really. Yuk. Boring. Nuff said.

This film strikes the viewer with its captivating simplicity ,from start to finish you can hardly believe that the people in the movie were actually acting ,the brilliant performances by Coogan and Brydon augments the already witty and well written dialogue that came off very naturally as an everyday conversation of two friends eating in a restaurant ,with hardly any impression of "synthetic" dialogue, but nonetheless keeping it fun and interesting to watch ,with enough jokes to keep you smiling for a good part of the movie. And if it isn't for the dialogue , "The trip" is definitely worth watching for the beautiful shots of the beautiful English countryside.
