Raanjhanaa (2013)

This turned out out to be a surprise hit for me. This is a love story throughout, but nothing terribly mushy or boring and certainly nothing typical of a Hindi romance. There is substance and a great story line here that keeps you engaged with the characters (even the side characters are hugely entertaining). There are some really funny moments and a few sad ones all combined to make a great story with no one over all mood. Dhanush plays his role very well and is destined for great things down the road. He sets a great example of putting your mind to something and tolerance towards being wronged. This is one of Sonam Kapoor's better movies and her role is excellent. The sets are real looking and it's refreshing to see no CGI, fake sets or green screened scenes. There is lots of color here and very real looking extras. The struggles between caste, religious differences and class divide are presented well with nothing glossed over. There are no super hero antics and no weird breakout dance scenes out of whack with the story. The music is excellent and goes well with each scene. An excellent movie that stands above the typical Bollywood stuff that is cranked out year after year.

Mindblown,Speechless,Dumb founded is how i felt after Raanjhanaa ended, what a film.Far superior then YJHD and Ashiqui 2. An untold love story.Raanjhanaa is a new love story no formulaic stuff.The 1st half is fun,with laughs,good songs etc But 2nd half is serious and ending is WOW. Dhanush is a revelation,words cant describe how AMAZING he is 1of the best performance of the yr for sure,the TAMIL and HINDISUPERSTAR. Sonam kapoor is also is MINDBLOWING gives a career best.Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub,Swara Bhaskar,and Abhay Deol deserve stand ovations great acting. Dir Anand Rai goes a million steps ahead with Raanjhanaa way better than Tanu Weds Manu. What a story, What dialouges, just WOOW.STANDING OVATION! Raanjhanaa music by arrahman best of yr so far.And the only - of film is gets to political at times in 2nd half.But the BEST ENDING EVER. Raanjhanaa is not a perfect film and probably not the best film i have seen this yr but i have never walked out of theater speechless

Very nice movie. Story of the movie is very impressive. Sonam's acting is not so good. Nice direction. A clichéd love story backed by superior performances. Raanjhanaa impresses despite its few flaws because Rai portrays a simple and honest love story without making any changes. Dhanush even with wobbly Hindi is splendid in his debut performance. He makes the pursuit of a lover to be loved funnier, pure and honest than anyone else ever. Sonam is charming and even with few flaws, she and Dhanush make up for a wonderful pair. Raanjhanaa is not one of the best love stories captured through celluloid, but it certainly is one of the finest performances by a lead pair in a love story. Even better than SRK and Kajol in the over hyped "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge". Yeah, I said it but that's the truth. I don't say this because I'm a south India nor I personally like Dhanush. I mean I do like him in some films but I'm not his fan boy.

the movie was going quite good until the interval,it was fully guided what to do but after the inteval there was no need to involve political theme in the film that truly has led the entire movie down..i was expecting a very good in fact best 2nd half from the director but he didn't came to my expectation..dhanush was truly brilliant throughout the movie , abhay also played a good supportive character but it was also the storyline which led everything down in the end.. you just have to see this movie though because it will make you cry the ending was awesome.. one of the best ending i mean it in a emotional way it was one of the most emotional ending of a Hindi movie ever...
