Ramona Quimby (Joey King) is a young girl with a wild imagination. Her big sister Beezus (Selena Gomez) is eternally embarrassed by her along with other things in her life. Their father (John Corbett) loses his job and the family starts to have money troubles. But it's the kind of movie where everything eventually works out right. This is a great movie for younger girls. It's good clean fun with a couple of wholesome young actresses. Joey King is especially adorable. Her sunny outlook will win you over. And it's got the super sweet Ginnifer Goodwin as aunt Bea. It's a good movie to watch with your little kids. The money troubles provide a little bit of drama, but it never gets out of hand to darken the movie. It's message that everything will turn out alright is most fitting for the little ones.

I saw that movie because I read the books as a child and watched the television series (with Sarah Polly) as well, and loved both. I just wanted a little blast from the past and to just check it out. this series was adorable in some ways, but it could have been better. Celena Gomez is not a totally poor choice for an actress, but a bit older then Bezus even at her oldest in the books. Perhaps somebody like Abigail Bresin would be better. Also, they were kind of vague about the decade. The series was in the late 50s and 60s, but the movie did not modernize it nor did they make any reference to the decade. The cars and clothing looked modern, but the technology still seemed 1960s. Okay that could be left up to the reader I suppose, but I like to know what decade I am in. Additonally, they fit a bunch of parts from almost every book into one movie, so it was just like a bunch of scenes cluttered in one. The father mentioned the third daughter once, but she was born at the end of the book series, and she is not in any of the scenes, which I found confusing. When he was talking about how he was going to be an art teacher, but gave up school, he mentioned Bezus, romona and some other girls name I think. I understand changing the story a little, but cluttering everything onto one movie and changing things around just does not make sense, because the stories were so nice in the books and changing it changes the special quality of the books. All in all, not a terrible movie, the children were adorable and the acting was decent.

A really cute, completely harmless, and often amusing family movie. I wish less of the story was focused on the adult characters (the Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Duhamel storyline almost put me to sleep) and more time was spent with the adorable Ramona (Joey King, who absolutely steals the movie) and the charming Beezus (Selena Gomez, who hopefully has a great movie career ahead of her), but honestly, there's not much about Ramona and Beezus that I didn't like. Anyone with fond memories of reading Beverly Cleary books as a kid or who wants to share the on-screen versions of the characters with their children will enjoy this. Ramona and Beezus is the rare kind of completely inoffensive family-oriented film that escapes blandess and boredom and leaves you with a grin on your face, despite all the sugary sweetness.

I really like this movie. I admit i originally watched it for Selena Gomez I wanted to see if she could actually act outside of Disney and though i didn't determine that, since Joey King was the real star in the movie, i found that i really enjoyed the movie. Yes it is a family movie and a lot of people say it is about nothing, but a movie about nothing to me is really a movie about everything. this movie showed you a family with its family problems and yes there were scenes that let u know that yes it is a movie its still portrayed a good family dynamic and good character interactions, and like i said joey king was amazing some of her scenes made me tear up. If you are looking for a movie with a distinct story line then this is not the movie for you but if just want to chill with the family and watch a movie that makes your family feel normal, with its quirks, crazy kids and surprisingly special moments. then hunker down with the family for a good time
