Imagine if you will the cast of 90210 located in Manhattan all rich and preppy and all heavily into the drug scene. This is essentially Twelve and these kids even have their own dealer.Young Chace Crawford after the death of his mother and since he's estranged from his father anyway has quit school after his junior year and has gone into the drug dealing business. Since he's got an in with all the rich kids he's got a steady base of customers and entry into where he can get more.Crawford is the main character, but there are others in Twelve which structurally looks a lot like Boogie Nights and Magnolia. Some of the parts are better than the whole with Crawford, Rory Culkin as this shy kid who is desperate to lose his virginity, and Billy Magnussen as his older psychotic brother. They may be rich but this is one sad lot of kids. You wonder if they will ever straighten out, some never get the chance.Incidentally the title comes from a new kind of designer drug that some of the kids will pay any price for.Twelve is not a Twelve or even a 10. Some good individual performances make it worth a look though.

White Mike (Chace Crawford) is a former rich kid. His family lost their fortune after his late mother's cancer battle. He became a drug dealer to the rich kids from the Upper East Side. He buys from Lionel (50 Cent) in Harlem. His girlfriend Molly Norton (Emma Roberts) comes from a poorer family and doesn't know about his drug dealing. His cousin Charlie is high on the new drug Twelve. Mike, Hunter McCullough, and Charlie are best friends since childhood. Charlie tries to rob Lionel and gets shot. Lionel also kills Nana who witnessed the shooting. There's a party at the home of nerd Chris Kenton (Rory Culkin). Queen Bee Sara Ludlow, Gabby (Zoë Kravitz), Jessica Brayson (Emily Meade) are some of the rich young people attending. Chris' unstable older brother Claude comes home going AWOL from his boot camp school.Joel Schumacher seems to be inspired by Gossip Girl and not in a good way. There are too many characters and too much story which keeps piling on in the first act. I don't usually like narrations but that many characters do need somebody to keep track. This is over-stuffed and a mess. At least, there are lots of pretty young people. It doesn't make this any good.

this movie is filled with irritating subjects - rich spoiled kids that have nothing to do with their lives but to do drugs, neglecting parents, death of relatives, cancer, flood of guns in the streets, dishonesty and fake of people, shallowness of high school kids in modern time, promiscuity, struggle of an unpopular kid in today's society and his total failure - it's the decadence of the rich and educated society in America, and therefore - the decadence of the American society. America is the lighthouse of the western world, it leads him, the whole world is bombarded daily with American culture, and so the whole world is about to go down with America. it's like "the dark knight" - America is Gotham city, but in this film there is no one to save it. that's why it made me wanna die. that, and the fact I was tired when I watched it.

I for one thought that the narration by Kiefer Sutherland was one of the better things about this movie. The narration throughout the movie is what makes it different from other films. It also explains some of the characters because there isn't enough time to show everything on camera.I liked this movie. It's about college drop out drug dealer, White Mike, whose mainly selling weed to his rich high school friends in New York City. His supplier, played by 50 cent, commits a couple of murders, that doesn't play a major role except that most of the movies' characters know one of the guys. The other major plot is this kid, Chris, likes to throw parties at his house. He throws a party for the hottest girl in school, and things end badly due to his crazy brother. I just thought the movie was interesting as it told the tale of how rich white kids waste their money and have parents whom are never around.FINAL VERDICT: I liked the narration and how it shows all the characters without getting confusing. I recommend it.
