Not a very good movie. It has it's charms if you watch it with the sound off. Whoever wrote the script should probably consider a career in roofing. Jeff Bridges is the only character who seems like a human being.

Unrealistic, stupid, boring, poorly written, annoying characters, terrible plot... I could go on forever. This movie was absolute trash from beginning to end. Don't waste your life watching this junk, even 'Bring it on' was better. On no planet would national gymnastics championships go like it does in 'Stick It'. The first half of the movie was bearable, even though I hated every single character (especially the main arrogant bitch) , but the second half was trash. An entire half hour or so is spent on one tournament where nothing happens except a bunch of talented gymnasts purposefully walking off instead of performing any tricks, and the audience cheers every bloody time?? What the actual f** is happening here? In conclusion, the movie was so bad that I had to get onto IMDb and write my first ever movie review. Thank You

After watching the film I felt rather cheated. I don't normally enjoy these sort of films but I have been proved wrong with films such as 'Centre Stage' which I thought had a good story, interesting characters and whilst entertaining to its target audience which is generally teenage girls it dealt with themes like anorexia and bolemia. This film doesn't have any of that. It doesn't have a good story, in fact it doesn't have any story. You have a rebel (Missy Peregrym) who is sent off to do gymnastics after having quit a number of years before. That's all, they enter some competitions and it gets rather predictable from there. Why the brilliant actor Jeff Bridges would associate himself with this film, I have no idea but he must have been offered a huge pay-cheque. The characters are annoying and one-dimensional and it fails to deal with any themes which are relevant, interesting and necessary. Don't see it.

First of all my wife and I, love this film. We are both huge fans of Gymnastics and it is difficult to find a movie, or even a documentary which captures the emotion of the sport the way "Stick it" does. On the surface of this film its about young girls flipping around a mat, and flying off of the uneven bars but, it goes deep into the inner workings of the competitive arena. In addition to the competitive insight, this film gives a glimpse into how parents are so influential in the lives of their children. In the scenes between the lead character "Haley" and the adults in this film, clearly shows the struggle that these kids have. All too many times these girls are forced into a sport and expected, by their folks and their coaches, to do extraordinary things. Not too many people who watch gymnastics on TV would know how much pressure these girls have on them from their parents, from their coach, and from their teammates. They have all of this stress and then they compete and the judges don't do the competitors justice.I thank the writers of this film for finally bringing a quality movie about the reality of the sport. I highly recommend this film.
