Great movie, a true classic. Hockey, beer, sausages, and a flying dog. What's not to love.

Lovable beer-swilling hosers Bob (likable Rick Moranis) and Doug McKenzie (the equally engaging Dave Thomas) have to stop the evil Brewmeister Smith (smoothly played with lip-smacking wicked relish by Max Von Sydow) from succeeding with his diabolical plan to take over the world with drugged mind-controlling beer. Writers/directors Thomas and Moranis amiably mine an amusing line in hysterically silly and harmless good-natured humor, with the best and most inspired jokes sweetly poking fun at movie clichés and conventions. Moreover, Thomas and Moranis display an utterly winning easy'n'breezy natural chemistry as our endearingly lunkheaded protagonists. The rest of the game cast has a ball with the zany material: Lynne Griffin contributes a charming turn as the bubbly, yet feisty Pam Elsinore, Paul Dooley does well as the smarmy Claude Elsinore, and Angus MacInnes makes a favorable impression as friendly and heroic hockey player Jean LaRose. Favorite gags: A lawyer beats up a bunch of pesky reporters with fancy karate moves and the McKenzie Brothers dog Hosehead flies to the rescue at the end. Charles Fox's dynamic score hits the spirited melodramatic spot. Steven Poster's sharp cinematography provides a neat polished look. An enjoyably dumb hoot.

In the dictionary under "cult classic" there should definitely be a picture of the poster for this movie! The Adventures of Bob and Doug McKenzie aka "Strange Brew" is still hilarious to this day, Max Von Sydow is fantastic as the lunatic brew master who wants to add mind control drugs to his beer in order to take over the entire world. Bob and Doug are of course hilarious as their hoser characters in every scene they are in, and all of the acting and jokes are fantastic.I love this movie and could watch it a hundred times, I recommend it if you are looking for a good laugh (but obviously not too much thinking, eh!)

This movie starts out rather typical of a comedy. Well sort of as the two heroes of the movie are introducing you to their movie which is like the film "Omega Man"...their words to describe it not mine. Then the film breaks and they are chased out of the movie theater by angry movie goers looking to get their money back. Well then the film shifts to them getting a job at a brewery, but not all is what it seems with said brewery. Which is a bit of a problem with the film as the plot gets a bit to dark and twisted for a movie that is about two rather dimwitted brothers whom I believe got their start on the old Canadian sketch show SCTV. Basically like a movie about two characters like "Wayne's World" and so on and so forth. Though this one is better than a lot of the Saturday Night Live character movies that have been put out. Despite the strange plot and such the movie is okay, just needed maybe a bit simpler plot and the focus near the end of the movie needed to be on the two brothers rather than the dude with the mustache (I think he had a mustache) that kind of stole the show from the two guys that were the only really funny things in the movie. Which makes sense seeing as how they are the stars for the most part. Let me see if I can explain myself better, the movie is kind of like a serious flick with a diabolical plot with two idiots installed and interacting in said movie with their wonder dog.
