Ten Inch Hero (2007)

OK, let's be honest. I've seen (the start of) a hundred of these sorts of movies --- low-budget indie flick about a quirky group of friends, billed as a comedy but not really many laugh-out-loud moments. Most of them are utterly dreadful, and I can tell within ten minutes that I hate these people and/or have utterly no interest in their lives. But every so often you get lucky and the whole thing works. From the first minutes you're intrigued by something, you soon care about every one of the characters, and by the end you're as in love with them as they all are with each other. Watch it with someone you love; you'll be happy you did so!

I really enjoyed this movie. So much that I decided to buy it on DVD within 5mins of the film finishing. Its funny. It's happy. It's good acting. If you want to spend a night in and end up feeling good inside and smiling then watch this film. It explores the meaning of love and happiness and family/community etc... The comedic scenes are good (Hen-period salad). It's interesting seeing how actors such as Jensen Ackles and Clea DuVall can transcend into another genre from such programmes as Heroes and Supernatural. All I can say is they do a great job. If people don;t like it, fair enough. No film is absolutely perfect. But if you just want to watch a feel-good film then this is one that won't disappoint.

This film is an enjoyable watch. The acting is all perfect and the storyline flows perfectly. If you're looking for something to watch on a rainy Sunday afternoon this is the film to watch. It's funny, easy-going yet its storyline is still mature and interesting. The characters are realistic, and most of them are extremely likable, you feel as if you want to join them in the setting. The music choices fit the scenes perfectly and I found myself wanting to buy the soundtrack as soon as I had finished watching this. For fans of Jensen Ackles, this is a defiant must. He's brilliantly comedic, and the hair makes the movie. Also it proves his acting ability, because his character is so different from Dean. Overall, I suggest you sit down and take the time to watch this movie, its cheerful and happy.

I don't know how, but this film inspired me to start drawing again and I am very grateful for that. It was simple with quite a normal story and a range of characters, which obviously doesn't sound very special, but after a stroke of comedy through the beginning to reel you in to the characters it really accentuated the insecurities of all these different people. This leads to a connection between them and with love they have for each other, as a family they've created, it really warms your heart. Everyone hopes for a family like this, with the closeness they have and the knowledge that, through your troubles, they will always be there to help you through.
