For a public building, those long, dimly lit corridors have shocking fire safety provision. Poor Kayla ran around sobbing for ages and I didn't see a single well-signposted Fire Exit. It's a lawsuit just waiting to happen. Being a lifelong wrestling fan, and clearly a good, loyal WWE consumer, I would have rushed out to see a wrestling star in a horror film... Sorry Vince, I've not seen The Marine either. (Although Triple H was ok in Blade or whatever)The opening credit sequence is actually pretty good - a ghastly array of tools, some medical, others less erm... less wholesome, many still dripping with blood. Intersperse this with shots of organs and other random pickled parts and it all goes along with the tense music to set a good tone. But I fear, is the only way down from this promising start? Now I like to think of myself as fairly open minded sexually. I've tried a fair few things that would make Daily Mail readers weep. But necrophilia is definitely, unequivocally a hard limit. I enjoyed the look on Tamara's face when, mid coitus, she notices that Jacob Goodnight isn't where he ought to be. Not so naughty now is it...?"Oh my god, are you kidding me?! you (had sex) in a morgue!!?" Outraged Amy "I thought he was dead!! - Tamara in response

Granted, I sat down to watch "See No Evil 2" even after being less than impressed with the first movie. But I had the chance to watch the two movies back to back, so I did so.This sequel is even more pointless and ridiculous than the first movie. At least the first movie had something that resembled a storyline and a backstory, whereas "See No Evil 2" is essentially just a reanimated Jacob Goodnight slasher killing people at a morgue. It made no sense whatsoever that the Jacob Goodnight character came back to life after the severe injuries and trauma that he suffered at the end of the first movie. And as he did come back from that kind of physical punishment and trauma would make him undead, I guess. But it didn't feel that way in any sense. While we are on the Jacob Goodnight character, then it has to be pointed out that the killer is so horribly generic and mundane as he could possibly be, and he doesn't stand out in any noticeably way as a serial killer/slasher character. And how very convenient that there was a mask lying around at the morgue to mask his facial injuries, and even more so lucky that it was the same side of the face that the mask was made to cover up.Furthermore, it was just downright ridiculous that Jacob Goodnight remained alive and kicking after having had an entire canister of embalming fluids pumped into his system."See No Evil 2" did have some adequate and interesting enough kill scenes to it, but it was hardly enough to make up for all the other shortcomings that the movie had.The special effects, both CGI and practical were actually good enough and did serve the movie well enough. Now, it should be said that there actually some good actors and actresses on the cast list.I am sure that there is some sort of entertainment value for fans of the first movie. But for fans of the slasher genre, then "See No Evil 2" is sort of a cold fish to the face, offering nothing much of any worthwhile.

Wow... a second part which is better than the first one. Well, in fact, that's not such a big achievement when we consider the fact that See No Evil had been a tedious and predictable slasher film completely lacking of imagination, suspense and excitement. And, to be fair, See No Evil 2 isn't a very good film either, but I found it moderately entertaining. For better or for worse, See No Evil 2 follows the old slasher recipe to the letter, and it didn't bore me mainly thanks to the dynamic direction from Jen and Sylvia Soska (who had left me quite impressed with their previous film, the excellent American Mary) and the tricky casting of three "scream queens" whose mere presence elevates the "geek coefficient" of the film, generating some interest in who the "final girl" will be. Will it be Chelan Simmons, who plays the frivolous and seductive blonde? Or Katharine Isabelle as the morbid fan of violent murders? Or Danielle Harris as the focused and responsible medicine student? Mmh... it might not be that difficult to guess the conclusion. But, well... inside its rancid routine, See No Evil 2 finds some opportunities to laugh at the clichés of slasher cinema (at least I think it was intentional) while it displays some blood. In conclusion, See No Evil 2 is a mediocre but moderately entertaining horror film, and I can give a slight recommendation to it. However, it's definitely a step back for the Soska sisters after American Mary, sacrificing the sophisticated style they employed in that film for something much more generic and forgettable.

The first "See No Evil" came in 2006 and was a pure guilty pleasure; it was fun quite cool with some brilliant over the top kills. This comes 8 years later, which may seem pointless, and why after all this time, and plus given the first one wasn't all that successful and there was no open end and its sequel was going straight to DVD, so all signs were pointing to total disaster. But gladly that wasn't the case, as this was actually a very good effort and I totally loved the total change in tone, going for a darker and tense mood. The events take place just hours after the massacre at the hotel and Jacob's body is taken to the morgue, with just a few doctors and a few guests planning a surprise birthday party. But soon he awakens and hacks and slashes his way through the new fodder. Okay it may skimp on plot and not much in the way of character development, but that doesn't mean that this isn't a load of fun and well made. The sterile hospital setting was effective and well used, with the many corridors in which the remaining characters wonder through when being chased was like a creepy labyrinth, was just brilliant and highly entertaining and okay the kills aren't as creative as the first one, but that doesn't mean it skimps on the bloodshed and goes for a more basic stalk and slash sequences, but the throat slit scene was very nasty and dramatic, also towards the final climax, this movie takes a different and surprising turn that takes you totally off guard.Like I already said the characters in this aren't very developed, but that doesn't mean that they are in any way bad, there are some definite stand out turns, namely from the ever brilliant Danielle Harris whose just great in every horror movie she's done. In this she brings a likable and innocence presence to her character Amy. Then we have another gorgeous scream queen Katherine Isabelle who in this plays the token slutty character, but totally has more fun with it and hamming it up to total perfection, you can just tell she had a lot of fun with this. Kaj Erick Ericksen was another standout and gives a very decent turn as the boy next door type character who you want to succeed. Finally Glenn Jacobs (Kane) gives an imposing and menacing performance as Jacob Goodnight the killer which works well in this and any slasher movie. All in all "See No Evil 2" is a very good sequel that does lack the imagination of the first one, but the brilliant turns from Danielle Harris and Katherine Isabelle saves it and helps it rise above average. It's highly entertaining and well shot and a special nod to the Soska sisters who directed this and took it to a more creepy atmospheric direction.
