Loved the movie: There's a lot to like - Snappy dialogue, genuine laughs, a bit of pathos and generally warm bubble-gum feel to it. Plus, of course, Sheen and Harmon (who looks good enough to eat) - who work well together and have good on-screen chemistry ; Lovitz and Peters - always good value; Richards and Arquette - who I normally don't like, but who do surprisingly well here; and a deliciously slimy Barry Newman. It's not Oscar-nomination stuff, but it is a very enjoyable way for canoodling couples to spend an hour and a half with a bottle of wine or a bag of popcorn.Hate the message: Shallow insider trader gets caught, fired, cuckolded, and eventually finds himself and his true love though being an agony aunt, only to get revenge and 1.5 mil with what? Yup, you guessed it: an insider trade. Money wins, and they all live happily ever after. God bless America. In 'Trading Places' it made sense. Here, I thought they could have done better.

Like most, I was expecting decent at best from the movie Good Advice, and really the only reason I wanted to watch it was to kill time and had never really heard anything about it. However, in the end I was pretty blown away, considering my expectations were much lower than I received. Good Advice was actually a fantastic film. It was touching and beautiful in some ways, and there were even a few scenes where I literally could not stop laughing. I thought the performances were spot on for the roles the film had and everything just clicked really well altogether. This, in my opinion, would be filed under nothing but feel good fun, and it is totally a hidden gem, seeing as how it is not very popular and should be. It got a little boring and there were a few moments of mediocrity, but the plot scheme was wonderful, the characters were cool and lovable, and it is completely enjoyable from beginning to end, in my honest opinion. I loved it and thought it was truly an adventure, even though most big film snobs would probably snuff it in a heartbeat, seeing as how it was just meant for fun and nothing more. I do not know what more I can say about it, so see it for yourself if you can accept for the joy ride it is, for if you have not, you are surely missing out on an excellent movie, and if you never see it because you do not believe me and the other commenters, it's just a great big loss for you.

This little know film is a sure fire sleeper. It stars Sheen as a New York stockbroker who's career is ruined when he follows some bad stock advice. Thus Sheen is forced to move in with his girlfriend Cindy (Richards) who is an advice columnist for a small time newspaper. Ryan then steals Cindy's job in order to keep her paychecks coming in, however his writing makes the column extremely popular. As the story builds Ryan begins to fall for Cindy's boss, Page (Harmon) who is the owner of the newspaper. Of course Ryan's scam falls out from under him when Cindy returns. The ending is surprising and the film ends on an a good note. This film is full of hilarious moments, especially when Ryan and Page go out on a business date and see a performance artist. The acting by Sheen, Lovitz, Arquette and Harmon is very good. Also Angie Harmon is about the best looking woman I've ever seen in my life in this movie. There is no doubt she is one the most gorgeous women on earth.

"Good Advice" doesn't try to be anything it is not, and knowing its limitations makes it a good watch.Charlie Sheen plays a disgraced stockbroker who was set up and loses his job, then his girlfriend (Denise Richards), who leaves him and the country, as well as her job as an advice columnist, behind. Sheen's character is desperate for money so he takes over the column under "Dear Cyndy's" name. Richards gives an over-the-top performance as the super-hot golddigger whose column wasn't making waves, or money. Sheen takes the job more seriously (since he needs the money), and the movie focuses on his evolution from a Type-A jerk into a new-age sensitive man in touch with his feminine side.As with any movie of this type, the plot and ending are pretty easy guesses, but the key is in the performances, and the entire cast is strong. Jon Lovitz plays the loyal friend (a plastic surgeon), while Rosanna Arquette is convincing as his materialistic wife and Cyndy's emotional support. The characters are more like what you'd find in real life rather than Hollywood, in that they weren't niced up the way many who move in the world of fiction are. While I wouldn't be moved to see this film in a theater (it went straight to video), if nothing else is on cable, I might give it another watch. The movie has enough staying power to ensure that you'll be able to find it on cable for many years to come.
