A reality based thriller, this film definitely deserves a sequel with the 2 lead actors. The film focuses on honor killings in north India and the evils still prevalent in society. A CBI officer and ex army officer are deputed to Jhanjhar where 3 college students were last seen to find out what happened to them and bring the culprits to book. The good - the acting, especially Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal, the stunts and action sequences , the editing, the plot, the climax. The second half of the film is more intense than the first. The bad - one item song, but not an issue really . Does not spoil the essence of the film. All in all, worth a watch.

Priyadarshan before getting into comedies was one of our finest dramatic directors though most of his films were his own reproductions of Malyalam ones but yet he gave some great films till HERA PHERI, HUNGAMA and then he starting doing stale comedies. AAKROSH was a break from comedies and he ventured into serious intense cinema yet again. He cast Ajay Devgan and returned with Akshaye Khanna after some time and both talented actors obviously the expectations were high. But the film comes across as a below average film, he tried to balance 80's masala with social awareness kinda subject and hence fell down. The film is a remake of Missisipi Burning but lacks the strong impact. There are several loopholes and many hard to digest masala scenes thrown in as Priyan wanted to appeal to the masses and classes too. The film starts off well, Paresh Rawal's scenes with Ajay and Akshaye are superb, also the bonding between Ajay and Akshaye is good Several more scenes are well handled but the problem is the lack of consistency, there are several half baked sub plots like Shool Sena part and several more. The film also seems abruptly moving into different things all of a sudden, Pray why the flashback of Bips-Ajay was suddenly thrown in? Especially the song? The film has several stunts like Ajay chasing the guy which is well executed but sometimes it does ruin the going ons by seeming forced like the train stunt. The film's climax too seems abrupt and all of a suddenDirection by Priyadarshan is good but not one of his best Music seems forcedAjay Devgan excels yet again as the lead and conveys through his eyes and endears himself well to the masses, Akshaye Khanna too does a great job in his role It's a pleasure to see him do serious stuff Bipasha Basu is decent in a role that could be better Paresh Rawal returns to his villainy something he excelled in the 80s and 90s before he started comedies and excels Reema Sen is superb in her role rest all are good to average

When you sit to watch a movie about 3 abducted students in rural Bihar, you tend to have some expectations. Expectations that have been met (rather exceeded) by some genius directors like Vishal Bharadwaj (Omkara), Prakash Jha (Gangaajal, Apharan), etc. I wont say that Priyadarshan did a shabby job, but somewhere you do not end up coming out of the theater satisfied that you watched a masterpiece. Two things were very good in the movie - 1. The star cast... Ajay Devgan, Akshaye Khanna and Paresh Rawal in pivotal roles. 2. The setup/plot combination... the plot of age-old harassment in rural Bihar. So this gives the movie a very good platform to build upon. The movie starts with three medical students going untraceable in a village and CBI is in to solve the case. It appoints its two officers - Ajay and Akshaye to investigate the case. As they start digging in to the details, they come to know about the other related (and deep-rooted) problems in the village. How they solve the problems and unearth the mystery is all what the movie is about. Now for Priyadarshan trademark - what are the things flicked (oops... inspired) from other movies. (1) The movie is "inspired" from the 1987 Hollywood flick - Mississippi Burning. (2) The chase sequence when Ajay Devgan chases a crook called Nasbandi is flicked from Casino Royale. On the whole, its a nice movie. But I personally did not like the climax much. I would not like to discuss about the climax but I felt if it had been somewhat different, it would have been better.
