Stylewise this is not your usual Chris Carter fare. This is a very modern looking story, it looks like Chris has not lost his knack for creating TV shows that fit right into the times. The millennium has come and gone. Or has it? This story is a typical day in a woman's life, that turns strange in one second. In this pilot one of the characters makes a conjecture about what the end times really will be like. Have we really read the book of Revelation and considered what it really says in there?Because if we really have read it, then we really should be scared. But should we be scared about supernatural entities, aliens and other Chris Carter phenomena, or should we be scared of each other? In this bloodcurdling pilot, it shows that we should be worried about both. Some people think evil comes from the devil himself, other people think that evil comes from man. Maybe both statements are true and maybe both are false."The after" explores this question and keeps us asking more questions until the very last scene. Interestingly, the show was created by Amazon.com which I've never heard of creating entertainment like this, I don't know if this is a web-only show or if this is going to be shown on any channels. But, I like it and I really want to see more. One thing to look for is imagery from Chris Carter's show "millennium".

I was dumb enough to read 3 positive reviews and jump on the band wagon without scanning further to look into the negative. And oh boy are the negative ones right! I've never written a review before, but since this was probably one of the worst hours ever wasted of my life I felt compelled to waste another 10minutes writing this. In plain English? The writing is atrocious. The whole thing is thrown together without any rhyme or reason. It's like 12 people were having a drinking game "name the post apocalyptic scenario" and someone was sober enough to write them all down. "Things happen" 'cause the creator needed for them to happen to move the story forward - even though the only "move forward" that happens are of characters going from A to B to F as in Falling Flat. Characters say or do random things 'cause you know? Why not! It's entertaining. We need people running around and bickering and crying and disagreeing all the time. We need total chaos and panic. Yes! "More cowbells please". It's the post-apocalypse for crying out loud! I stayed until the end hoping to get a smudge of an explanation but there's no "Rosebud" or "Keyser Soze" here. No. There's just a perfect (sic) Deus Ex Machina that is suppose to shock and hook you but instead just hoodwinks you. Highly recommended for anyone who loved the final episode of the great-until-that-moment show that was "Lost". If you like wasting your time coming up with convoluted excuses for lazy and poor plot/character choices by the creators, well, Mr. Carter made this one just for you.

Without going into too much detail, I just cannot see the point in this Pilot, nothing anyone did made any sense, like the following: Why would you choose to go to a strangers house with other total strangers just because you had just been stuck in a lift for 5 minutes with them ? Why would an escaped convict come back to rescue some people including a police officer who he had met 2 minutes earlier and threatened with a gun when the city was swarming with police and other rescue personal ? Why does everyone swear so much, every sentence contained "fucking", the Irish character only knows this word, but hey nobody seems really bothered, there seems to be something else going on (a few booming noises and a lot of people hanging around in the streets, swearing) but everything appears to be normal, but just in case its not lets stick together with an escaped convict and a dodgy looking Irish gob shite ! Just to keep us interested in the end we have a weird guy painted blue with snazzy eyes and little horns appear and attempt to caress our heroine, he however gets knocked down and decides it will be quicker to get away by crawling on his back ! Does it make much sense ? Well it didn't to me !

I haven t read a single review talking about the bible... I might be wrong but it feels like the show is based on the bible genesis...everything makes me thing of it... The end of the world to be more precise...7 sins are the base of the show. Every characters are related to it but why 8 and not 7 because one might be the savior or has a special purpose. Everybody is born on March 7... HeheheFor me everything made sense from the first minute to the end except one scene: " they escaped trough the streets way too easy.. No more people were on the streets and the cars were all gone..." Was a piece of cake to drive in the streets...Apart from that I was only thinking about " the stand" from Stephen king... I don't want to spoil the review of the first episode but give it a try and try to see beyond the weird attitude of the actors or scenes and u will have a different vision... Everything has been made for a purpose...Maybe because I was raised as a catholic and having read the bible I have a different point of view and I might be completely wrong but I think I kind of see where the show is going and I love it...Unfortunately looking at the reviews I think it will be doomed from the start because most people didn't look beyond the scenes and find it dumb...Anyway try it u might like it or hate it...
