One Perfect Day (2004)

this is the sort of movie that parents would make to stop their kids taking drugs. the sad thing is that the acting isn't bad, and the filming is OK but seriously? who the hell learns how to mix in a couple of weeks? and what sort of DJ, not only once but twice, plays ONE track and then walks off the decks? A s**t one. i have a lot of DJ friends and i am heavily involved in dance music and i frankly found this movie insulting to it. the only redeeming points of the movie was the bit of drama going on with the main characters until it became completely outlandish and myself and my boyfriend sat there laughing as one of the main characters died. i have a feeling that laughs were not the desired reaction. don't bother.

From the other comments I just read, I found out that this was about trance music and the rave scene. Or is that rave music and the trance scene. Being 52 and American, I didn't know about any of this. I did catch that it was about drugs and young people's susceptibility to drugs and the tragedies that can cause, but even that was obtuse and inaccessible to someone like me.Someone mentioned Pieces of A Dream, and I did think of that one as I watched this. I did not care for that experience as I felt that an artistic and misanthropic director threw all nasty imagery he could think of at his audience and regarded his audience as mere guinea pigs on which to vent his venom. But, at least I understood what was going on. The director, like many reviewers, clearly subscribe to the new mantra of film-making that mandates that the best directors maximize obtuse imagery and minimize words. A lot of guesswork was required.I guess I'm old-fashioned but I still find plot essential and wish to follow one when I see a movie. I needed a prerequisite course in trance and the rave scene in order to understand this one.A friend asked me if I liked Australian movies, and I've loved many of them, about 20 of the 23 I've seen. He lent me this one. Make that, 20 out of 24.

This movie has the best soundtrack! I watched it at the Tribeca Film Festival exactly one year ago in April 2004, and it still hasn't been released in the US as far as I know. And I still haven't seen any news of the soundtrack being released either. I hate how it isn't easier to see foreign films sometimes. Even in NYC. If this film does ever make it out, I think most people will really enjoy it. Not only is the music and story outstanding, but the message is a good one. I don't think this film has been extremely well received in Australia where it is from, but the US would eat it up. Great work on combining good music, good cinematography, and a good story!

O.K, this is no cinematic great but firstly (I know this may be hard for some mainstream Americans) but you have to compare this movie to other Australian productions. In other words firstly ignore the buckets of trash we're exposed to from our movie industry.. And compare with standout exceptions like e.g Lantana,Goddess of 1967', etc. This movie I can say did captivate me emotionally, aurally and visually. Didn't sit well with the main character sister's drug death, needed greater depth and perception in reality. I really didn't know anything about the film before I sat down (except dance music) so I was surprised by the level of dramatic elements in it.. Quite possibly "Go" dulled my radar??? A overly fun film this isn't but hey I'm proud of this particular level of achievement for an Aussie film.
