Chocolate: Deep Dark Secrets (2005)

I am an ardent fan of Hollywood movies but I missed Usual suspects. Still in 2015 I never watched it. In 2006 a neighbor told me that chocolate is excellent movie. I got it rented and watched. After watching it I was like my jaw fell off with tongue outside.This is brilliant in Indian movie industry. Some people never digest Hollywood plots and these kind of movies. By god's grace I was able to. I never watched Usual suspects and watched this. It has grip, it lets you glued to your seat.In 2015, I watched it again, I knew the story but still feeling the same. Vivek Agnihotri might have lifted it up but copying anything with that much brilliance requires an art.He proved it! For me, its 8/10 coz I watched it earlier. Else it could have been 10. Brilliant work, Irfan khan is known face these days but in 2006, I was loving his acting in this movie. Anil Kapoor did brilliant job, Arshad Warsi, Suniel, Emran and Tanushree were good.The credit goes to director for this work. Thankfully I am not able to compare it and hence I still like it.

Some Time adaptation are far better than the Originals and Chocolate proves that, but the problem is that this Film is far away from the IQ level of most of the Indian Film Lovers.About Story: This is not the easy film. You can't miss a single shot, even the worst song "mummy ko nahi hai pata". You have to connect the story chain of Irfan Khan. You have to use your mind, you have to try to find the main suspect. I am 101% sure, If you don't know anything about the the Film, you will not find the "main suspect" at any point during watching it. Even those who are saying, this is the dubbed/copy/stolen version of "The Usual Suspects" can't find the "main suspect". When I was watching "The Usual Suspects" before 15 minutes from the End, I tell the name of "main suspect" & he was,but in Chocolate you can't.Acting: Acting is the Plus point of this movie. No need to tell about Anil Kappor, Arshad Warsi & Irfan Khan's Acting, we all know they are the Ring Masters of Acting. Sunil Shetty in a New Avtar. Imran & Tanushee did a fantastic Job.Music: Refreshing music by Pritam & plus point the "Anthem" of the film.A Perfect Film for Perfect Audience.

hmmmmm....nice movie! thats what i uttered when i saw Chocolate the first time cause frankly speaking till then i didn't knew it was a LIFT OFF...a dialogue by dilogue copy, GOD DAMN IT!! Why do these jerks even bother?? i actually watched the usual suspect weeks ago....as it was my classic movie day, and then i realized like just minutes into the movie i knew i have watched it before.....b i realized yup....CHOCOLATE....and guess what me evening ruined the movie all messed up, n i will advise all of you guys please don't go buying, renting or streaming this movie instead watch the Usual Suspect if you want entertainment.....i pity the Indian directors....though Indian cinema is working hard to pull it off as a major original movie makers these cannot-risk-money directors opt for the already successful plot thinking they will get a box office hit.....they just hire these famous actor (sunil shetty, arshad warsi etc).HOW DO these ACTORS EvEN SIGN UP!

Don't be put off by tripe written about this film comparing it to the original. Just as 'Vanilla sky' was not as good as 'Open Your Eyes', this film may not be as good as the Usual Suspects but it is a very credible attempt at remaking the original for Indian audience. What would be the point in making the exact original, as the context and audience are different. If one could make a remake the original as good as, or better than the original, then it would denigrate the original. Why bother to go and see a remake if you expect to see the original. Why not except how good the original was and what brave attempt it is to try and pay homage to the original in the remake.Yes the songs are crap and were unnecessary to the story line. Anil Kapoor and Irfan Khan with their new looks have given depth to their characters. The rest of the cast is mediocre and can't match the performance of two leading actors. Sushma Reddy can't act that is certain. Tanushree Dutta may be the obligatory pretty face in Indian movies, but she tries hard to give some twist to the story line and her relationship with Irfan Khan. Cinematography is quite refreshing for an Indian film and is homage to the original. Some of the plot lines are weak and lack credibility but the pace and continuity of the film certainly keeps you guessing. I kept thinking till the end that it would end like the original with Kevin Spacy walking out on his own. The end shot did come as a surprise, as it gave the story some freshness, even though it may appeal to sugar sentimentality of Indian Audience. Do see this film and then see the original again and except the original may be best but this remake is not bad as first Film from a young directors who is not afraid to tread dangerous ground.
