Local teens have long commemorated the death of 'Mary Hatchet' - a girl who took an ax and killed her family in the 1970s - with the aptly named Blood Night. But things never got truly bloody until Mary's ghost decided to make an appearance. Dead bodies are piling up, and Mary seems to be calling the shots. But there are secrets about her past that have yet to be uncovered.

Another boring slasher, filmed on the cheap and in the dark, about a sinister legend and a dysfunctional killer working their way through a cast of irritating characters. Like the HATCHET series (which is much more fun, incidentally), BLOOD NIGHT casts the likes of Danielle Harris and go-to guy Bill Moseley in various parts to appeal to the fans, but this is very weak sauce indeed. The trouble with BLOOD NIGHT is that it's just so darn derivative. There's extreme gore and gruesome murders right from the outset, but nothing else. No suspense sequences, no characterisation, no interesting turns of plot or story development. The stark, dark look of almost all the scenes makes it a film that's rather depressing to watch, as is the tired signposting of the repetitive kill scenes. Speaking as a slasher fan, there's very little to enjoy here at all.

A group of teenagers celebrating the anniversary of the death of a local axe murderer suddenly find themselves face to face with the realities of this haunting urban legend. On Bill Moseley as Graveyard Gus (an homage to Crazy Ralph) -- a bit campy, but still appreciated. I am no fan of Moseley because of a personal reason, so I may be biased. Either way, this is not his best performance. Danielle Harris is incredible here, and I wonder how much longer she can play the college girl (she is in her 30s). But if you got it, flaunt it! The whole film seems to be a love letter to earlier horror films: the song ("Party Time") that is a clear homage to "Return of the Living Dead", the watching of "Killer Tomatoes". It never really adds up to a great film, though, preferring to try to replace plot and action with sensuality. Some of the gore is decent, but overall there is nothing here for horror fans. And non-fans would be wasting their time even more.

Some Spoilers. But not enough to ruin the twist of the film. I am a Die Hard slasher fan and a Die hard Danielle Harris fan. So when I caught news of this film I was Psyched! Having Bill Moseley(Texas Chainsaw massacre 2, 1986) in the line up isn't bad either. So right off the bat it is easy to tell the director had is own thoughts on the slasher genre! What were they? Well to make a different but yet Cliché one. He decided to stick with with the drunkin' teens with no adult authority, but he decided to use different camera angles! This is Noticeable within the first ten minutes of the film. *Review* So the film starts off with the Legend of Mary Hatchet. This takes up the first 11 or 12 minutes of the film. Then we meet the group of teenagers. Right off the bat we also get to know the character types. Which if I may say so myself its the type I hate to love. You know? The jocks and Slutty girls. The ones your really hoping to die and when they do you get excited. They decided to go to Mary Hatchets grave with a weegie board! They summon Mary Hatchet(Or do they?). Then they decide to leave to have a party. . . . I really like the twist of this film. If your a fan of Slashers this is one to see!

"It's time to wake the dead." On the anniversary of the death of axe murder Mary Hatchet a group of teens head to the graveyard to "wake the dead" before a night of drinking and horror movies. While at the house they begin to wonder if the prank was a prank at all. There is really not much to say about this one. Group of kids do something they think is a joke, drinking, sex and death occur. This is a movie type that has been done to death and is starting to wear out I think. Acting is not the best, but most of the actors are in the movie because of their looks anyway. Very gory and bloody, but not any worse then other movies like this. If you like the typical "Friday The 13th" slasher movies then this is for you. Overall nothing too exciting, you can only watch so many movies like this before it becomes repetitive. I have seen much worse though. I give it a B-.Would I watch again? - I don't think I will, I'm sure another movie like this will be releases in a month.*Also try - Mask Maker & Urban Legends : Bloody Mary
