A Gentleman (2017)

I watched the trailer and was so excited, then reviews were bad. yesterday I had nothing to watch so I gave it a shot in hotstar. The movie is super duper fun to watch. This made me feel sad that this movie was a flop. IDK why though. I have watched S##ty movies that made a lot of money. We need more movies like this.

You see that this is not the movie that you go in expecting a great story or some great acting performances but this movie will surely give you a good time.I don't want to reveal much about the movie but i would like to stay this movie is worth watching.You will surely have a smile on face after you finish watching the movie.The movie have some good action sequences(it would have been better with some less cuts),fun music,humour and a good twist in the middle. Dont expect much from the movie just sit back and enjoy it.It is a good hangout movie that you can enjoy with your friends.

In my book, no movie deserves a 1-star rating, especially this one.To be honest, I haven't written a review for any movie prior to this. Didn't need to because there was always a fair assessment of a movie on IMDb. You know, two sides to the coin and all that jazz. Not in this case, unfortunately. Looking at all the concerted click farm 1-star ratings, I wondered how could my experience of watching the movie be so out of step with these so-called user reviews. Some of these reviewers claim that they hate the actors (Siddharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez) to the core. Now, I can't for the life of me understand why on earth would you go and watch a film that stars the exact same actors? Well, I got my answers after a little digging into the profiles of these 'good Samaritans', whose only goal in life seems to be to save your time and money from watching (not all bad movies, mind you!) this particularly bad movie, and who were offended so much by the movie that they decided to join IMDb for the first time only days after the movie's release and save you from the 'hell' they went through. If only, we cared so much about each other, the world really would be an amazing place indeed. As for my own experience of watching the movie, I thought that the movie sets itself up for a mammoth task of mixing two radically diverse genres - action and comedy. There is always an element of risk associated with these kinds of movies and expecting mixed results is part of the unspoken deal. But directors Raj and DK did a fine job in balancing this tone very effectively throughout the movie. Their unapologetic approach to filmmaking, coupled with their wacky sense of humor, bodes well for the duo in subverting the two genres and making it a wholesome entertainer. My only criticism would be the inclusion of songs. (This is my qualm with every other movie which has songs in it!). While the songs were a great listen outside of the movie, they did little to help move the narrative of the film. Their exclusion could have also helped cut down the slightly longer run time of the film.I won't tell you to go watch the movie. Because it's not really my place to do so. No one need tell us what we are supposed to do. I'm merely sharing my experience of watching A Gentleman. If you do happen to watch it, please share your experience too. Unlike some, we may not make the world a better place, but we can at least try to make it fair.

I am glad I decided to watch this movie. It is a slick entertainer with no dull moments. The screenplay keeps you engaged and is very different from a "normal" Bollywood film. Action in the movie is top class and looks very real. Sid looks dashing and suited the dual role. His action sequences would be a welcome break for his fans. Jacqueline suited her role and did very good job. The comedy is situational and not the typical over the top crap. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the songs look on big screen (even after watching them on YouTube earlier). Go for it if you want a different and engaging film. You will enjoy it.PS: I am shocked by the amount of negative comments in IMDb for this movie. I wonder how many of these reviewers have actually watched the film. There is no way *anyone* can call this movie a trash, junk, etc...
